Unfortunately, with his social media activity and some of the recent articles about his recruitment, not shocked by this one. I'm sure he is looking for that OSU offer. Oh well, better to find out now than next fall.
 




Incredibly disappointing. So much good news (team GPA, etc.), really thought PJ had us to the point that we wouldn't have to keep worrying about this. I thought recruits misusing "no love lost" was other programs' problem now, guess I was wrong.
 





After seeing things on social medial the last few weeks I am not surprised with this news.
I wonder if MB-S was involved in these multiple family talks...I mean, he is family.

Highly doubt this is the reason he decommitted.

Disappointing but not a shock, would rather have it happen now than much later in the process.

De-committing happens with every program and I imagine could become even more of an issue with NLI's a reality, but as others have pointed out, I'd rather it occur now instead of reaching signing day and being left surprised (ex. Pyburn). And just as Florida was Pyburn's dream school, if Brown is anticipating an Ohio State offer, well, I can't imagine there's many programs out there that could realistically convince an Ohio native who has dreamed of becoming a Buckeye to stay committed to their program.
 

Well maybe don’t run the ball 70% of the time and 9 straight times to run out the first half before kicking a field goal against Iowa and we might be more attractive to WR recruits.

With Kirk back our offense should look a lot more like 2019.
 

I'm not gonna say I wasn't excited about his potential talent and landing a 4-star is ALWAYS nice. But with what we have at the position group for the coming years, I guess I'm not as concerned losing a WR for 2023.

I'm also not concerned with Fleck and Simon's ability to recruit or grab WRs in the portal. Plus, if we go back to throwing the ball more under Kirk C, that should make us even more attractive to receivers.

Where we were also very run heavy yet were still able to have 2 first team all B10 WR and both are in the NFL right now. Imagine that.

I agree with the general sentiment that we have shown an ability to find and develop receivers, but at the same time, do any of those names above really excite you? The last 4 are TBD of course, but I found Jackson very disappointing this year, Wright was hot and cold, MBS had flashes but nothing steady. I still have high hopes for most of them but hitching our wagon to those guys does carry some risk.

I guess I didn't see Jackson as disappointing this year. I know he had some injuries, but I think he still has a lot of upside. Wright is SUPER exciting. Like CAB said, Wright has the physical ability to be the best WR who ever played at the U. MBS can be a solid #3, IMO.

But as far as Emilien and Brockington, I think it's far too early to offer a verdict on either. They both had good offers and appear to have a good skillset. So I guess, if I believe in our staff's ability to identify and develop talent, why would I be any less excited about either of them than an incoming 18-year-old who hasn't spent any time getting to know the offense or working in a college S&C program? Again, I get Brown has a 4-star ranking and some good offers, but what are you seeing that says he will be a better college player than Brockington (for example)? If you don't believe in MBS, assuming his own brother (who shares genetic material with him) is gonna be the next Bateman seems like a reach.

By no means am I giving up on Jackson, but I was looking for a big step forward in 2021, and we got a 267 yard season. Injuries almost certainly were a factor, but I can't think of one game last year where he really wowed me. Agree on Wright with the upside, but again we need to start actually seeing it develop into consistent results. He has the potential for greatness no doubt.

I don't know enough about Anthony Brown to compare him to any of these guys, and I'm not panicking over the loss of is commitment, my point overall is that there's just a lot of uncertainty at WR, while at the same time some reasons for optimism.
 



c'mon. We all know how this works.

someone - maybe a recruiter from another school - has been in this kid's ear, or in the parent's ear, saying something like this:

"MN runs the ball 70% of the time. At School X, we throw the ball 70% of the time. If you go to School X, that means more catches, more yards, more TD's and more exposure, plus a better chance of going to the NFL."

Like it or not, WR's are divas. most of them want the ball and the spotlight.

MN is going to have to work twice as hard to get top-quality WR's to come to MN. that's just the way it is.
