Andre Hollins NOT Going to Stanford

No Harvard is not a big time program

Please show me where I said that they are. Thanks in advance!

and will NEVER be on the same level as Stanford, Minnesota and Mississippi.

We have a tendency to think that things will always stay the same as they are now. I'm sure you were saying that Cornell wouldn't do anything in the tournament last year. If any school gets enough well-coached and talented athletes accumulated, who are willing to play together and follow a good coach, ANYTHING can happen. You don't really think Butler was the second-most-talented team in the nation last year, do you? You don't really think George Mason was among the four most talented teams in 2006, do you?

And since when are Stanford, Minnesota, and Ole Miss such basketball powerhouses?

No athletic scholarships either...

I'm fairly certain that anyone who follows college sports even casually is aware of this.

But you are also aware that they provide need-based grants to many students, correct? Especially women and minorities? I'm sure you're aware of all that.

Plus, it's a degree from HARVARD.

Harvard Got Verbal Commit From 6-6 Max Hooper

He visited Minnesota in October. Clipped from Hoopmasters:

... the Harvard Crimson has received a commitment from 6-6 swing man Max Hooper from Wolfesboro, NH Brewster Academy. "Max Hooper committed to Harvard tonight."

"He felt that Harvard was the right fit for his skill set."

Hooper is an excellent wing shooter who can swing at the big guard and wing forward spots in a standard or three guard offense. He has range to the NBA arc and has really improved his ability to create dribble drive or pull-up jumper.

He chose Harvard over interest from Dartmouth, Princeton, Lehigh, and Central Michigan.

He is the sixth recruit in the Harvard Class of 2011 joining Corbin Miller, Jonah Travis, Kenyatta Smith, Wesley Saunders and Steve Moundou-Missi in a deep and talented group who are headed to the Crimson next fall.

Keep in mind that Hoffarber will be gone and Devoe will be a senior when Andre would arrive. Also, it sounds like Tubby wants to try Austin Hollins at SF, so we won`t be loaded at the SG position. Also, like others have said, he might be able to play point.

I think Austin Hollins may be 6-5 now and could possibly grow another inch or two. The "3" may be his spot in college.

Deep and talented? That has to be a misprint. I mean, Harvard completely sucks and shouldn't even have a basketball team to begin with. Why would anyone on earth want to go there?

Seriously - you have to PAY to attend school there? What kind of two-bit school makes a serious athlete pay tuition?

The Hollins video that is available on the web looks very good. Hollins looks to be athletic, an excellent shooter and comes accross as a very bright young man during interviews. I think he will be an outstanding college player and I hope we get to watch him for four years at MN.

Totally agree.

I think we have a lot of things going for us, good academics, big conference, playing time and a chance to play for Tubby.

Every Ivy League school.

Chasson Randle is supposed to announce his decision at 5:00 PM EST today.

Great news on two fronts we don't have to play him every year and it should help our chances with Andre.

Chasson Randle committed to Stanford today, hopefully a positive sign for the good guys.

First, I never said Minnesota, Mississippi or Stanford where powerhouses. Secondly, Butler, GMason and Cornell are teams that got hot at the right time and made amazing runs in the tournament. Cornell isn't a basketball power and neither is George Mason. They are the exception to the rule. It's not normal for teams like that to make noise in March, they just get the most attention when they do. MOST of the time, it's teams from big-time conferences that have the most consistent post-season success.

Hollins decision may come down tonight as well, sounds like he's pretty close. Mississippi is very much in the mix and some even think they lead.

Where's Allen, Hutchinson, Longwell when you need them?

What do we pay Vince Taylor for? So far he couldn't carry Jimmy Williams suit case.

Where did you hear this?

I just checked the Memphis newspaper and didn't see anything about Hollins. Did see that Pastner got Adonis Thomas to commit.

Andy Kennedy is pretty persuasive with local recruits. Memphis not far from Oxford MS.

He told several people he was going to sit down with his parents tonight and really talk things out and was close to a decision. I still find it hard to believe he would go to Mississippi considering how important academics are to him, but location would certianly be the obvious attraction. MN thought he was Stanford bound before the Randle news. I still think we have a good shot but the Rebel talk has been gaining alot of momentum.

i don't think he can really answer that but i don't think we've ever gotten incorrect info from him (at least that can be proven incorrect). it's usually about current beliefs of coaches/players. he has as good of sources as anyone on here, including myron.

from where? what are your sources? if you dont mind my asking.:)

Could be he prefers to stay down south - there are a lot of guys like that. That being said, I'd hate to think that Mississippi looks better academically than us!
