Andre Hollins NOT Going to Stanford

Andy Kennedy is also pretty hostile to cab drivers and/or minorities.

Actually that's UTTERLY false. The cab driver called an African-American who was Ole Miss assistant on AK staff, the N-word.

AK defended his assistant coach.

FOT, face it, Kennedy embarassed himself with that incident and you are as incapable of being objective about anything related to UC as you are about Tubby. 'Huggins is a saint who's never cheated, etc.' Let it go.

FOT hasn't defended Thuggins, has he?

I'm stating facts. I know exactly what happened through a good friend who was on AK's staff at UC and is now coaching elsewhere.

Believe whatever you want. I know the facts. You know ESPN stories only.

The cabbie did exactly what I said he did and AK defended his assistant.

Huggins doesn't cheat. His assistant (at UC) did in the late 1990's and got fired. He has never been rehired by any college.

He is not perfect by a long shot. But he does not cheat.

I don't know if this means anything or not?? But looking at Andre Hollins twitter and he is now following tubby smith and also follows a couple other gopher twitter pages.

Was he not following them before?

Is Andre also following other Programs/Coaches in his top 5?

If he's checking stuff out on Twitter, then there's a decent chance he's checking out this website...

HI ANDRE, PLEASE COME TO MINNESOTA!!!

I follow Tubby and he just added Andre and i don't see any other coaches Andre is following.

Check out the video of Harvard's Basketball facilities. The Barn blows these away (IMO).
Also, saw ESPN (Telep) post of multiple signings for Harvard. Think Harvard is not a likely destination for Andre (IMO).

He follows the Harvard and Stanford hoop twitter accounts too. But Tubby is a good sign if he just added him.

Thuggins is a great role model... has just sat Noah Cottrill off to the side... good chance the kid will never play. :/ Ugly.

Gopher in Texas - I'll root for your opinion... as of now I have an opposite feeling, unfortunately.

Huggins (Clipped)

A proven success as a program builder, recruiter and game strategist who has won 670 games as a collegiate head coach, Bob Huggins has directed his alma mater to 80 victories, the 2010 NCAA Final Four, the 2010 BIG EAST championship and back-to-back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament during his first three seasons in Morgantown.

Huggins, 57, has compiled a 670-241 (.736) record entering his 29th season as a head coach, which includes stints at Walsh College (1980-83), Akron (1984-1989), Cincinnati (1989-2005), Kansas State (2006-07) and West Virginia (2007-present). He ranks fourth in total victories and 10th in winning percentage among active Division I head coaches.

Huggins’ teams have participated in postseason play in 25 of his 28 seasons, including 18 NCAA tournaments. His squads have won 20 or more games in all but four of his 28 campaigns, including 30 or more twice, and he has averaged 23.7 victories a season.

Last year, Huggins guided West Virginia to one of the most memorable seasons in school history. The Mountaineers reached the NCAA Final Four for the first time since 1959 and won their first BIG EAST championship. WVU recorded a school record 31 victories and also posted a school-best 13 BIG EAST victories, finishing the season ranked No. 3 in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. For the third year in a row, Huggins was named state coach of the year by the West Virginia State Sports Writers Association.

Da’Sean Butler, winner of the 2010 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, earned first team All-America honors by Basketball Times and the John Wooden All-America team. In June, Butler was the 42nd selection in the second round by the Miami Heat, while Devin Ebanks was taken one pick later by the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Off the court, the WVU men’s basketball team ranked in the top 10 percent of all squads in the 2010 NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR). In addition, the BIG EAST awarded WVU the team excellence award for the highest grade point average among BIG EAST men’s basketball teams.

Harvard is an education opportunity second to none. I have no idea where Hollins may go.

Yes, I likely could be wrong.

The Ivy League academic scholarship program for basketball bothers me a little. Harvard has 16 players on their roster (see link), none of who are seniors. They have six commits already for this year. Looks like they will be telling six (seven if Andre goes there) of the current players that they will not be playing basketball their junior or senior years. I realize it is a great education, but, seems like a lousy way to get around limits on recruiting and over signing. Note, Penn cut the last two members of their sophmore class from their team. Seems almost like the pros, many players will wonder every year if they will be cut.

There's no doubt Huggy is a great coach and would great to play for, but he's not exactly known to be a clean recruiter (beasley for example) or a coach who cares about academics. He's been at WVU for just a few years, so his players "academic" success is a little skewed at this point. In your clip above, you failed to leave this out about his academic success at Cincy (from wikipedia):

During this time the program also gained a reputation for a rough style of play and academic under-performance. Huggins routinely graduated only 30 percent of his players, compared with half of nonathletes at UC. Several of his players were also arrested and convicted on criminal charges.[6] The program was placed on probation in 1998 for a lack of institutional control.

+1 Seems like good signs to me.

How is this for an athletic pressing line-up (a little small but fast)
Hollins - PG
Coleman - SG
Hollins - SF
Williams - Wing
Mbakwe - Post

Devoe isn't so bad either to throw into this lineup. From what I've heard/seen of Chip, he's got some juice to add, too. Love the prospect.

(Stating the obvious) Andre Hollins would be an outstanding addition to the program.

If someone has a legitimate, good update on Hollins, can you please post it in a new thread? It's really tiring to weed through 6 pages of a thread to read nothing but a pissing contest between FOT and some unnamed poster to try to find out a nugget of new information. Or if the mods could go ahead and just shut down the thread. That would help as well.

Well if it makes KyGopherfan happy...

Word has it that Andre Hollins has just taken an injured gopher into his home and is currently nursing it back to health. Another sign?:clap:
