All Things TV Series Recommendations/Reviews

Movies to watch repeatedly:

Werewolf: REST IN....BEAST!

A few series that we're working our way through during this summer:

Orange is the New Black: Just finished Season 1 and really enjoyed it. Great mix of characters, lots of potential story lines...really looking forward to Season 2.

Suits: I believe dpodoll recommended this - my wife and I love the show. I'm surprised that its not more popular. We're just finishing up Season 3 and have been DVRing Season 4, so we'll go right into it. The ladies on the show are incredibly gorgeous and whomever picks out their work attire has fantastic taste in fitted clothing!

Mad Men: I'm obviously very late to this game...cruised through Season 1, now into Season 2. I really like it. My favorite shows are The Wire, Braking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, etc. type of shows and Mad Men is obviously much slower, but its very well done and I'll definitely continue to work my way through it.

Those are our three summer series we're working our way through.

I'm a big fan of Suits. Glad I stumbled onto it a couple years ago. Dpo and I agree on pretty much everything.

Started watching the X-Files from the first episode.

Recommend Twin Peaks if you have never seen it. Early David Lynch show from 1990.

Last season of Sons of Anarchy starts in September:

Go Gophers!!

Homeland preview, back first week of October:

Go Gophers!!

Just finished 'The Tudors' & am midway through 'Copper' now. The Tudors was great stuff. Copper is pretty good, but not great. I like the 5 points, NYC, 1860's stuff like in Gangs of New York. The accents can sometimes be hard to believe. I'll continue watching the rest of the available episodes though. Next on deck is 'Orange is the new black'.

Audition tapes from The Office - interesting to see some of the people that read scripts for the show:

I finished up Arrow season 1 off of netflix. It was so good I finished 23 episodes in a week. My wife and I are starting mad men.

Season finale of Longmire tonight.

I am watching it. It's a good one. Walt is a a good guy.

'Hell on Wheels' anyone?

Good show.

Also, Showtime's lineup of Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex is pretty strong. Ray Donovan is similar to the Sopranos. It's not as good as Tony and company, but it's good. Masters of Sex is just a masterpiece.

Is Masters of Sex really that good? I watched the first half of the first season when it was released and concluded that it was simply meaningless soft core porn. Does the plot line get much better?

Ray Donovan is excellent. The 2nd season has been great so far in my opinion.

It is fantastic. If you stopped watching, then you missed out. I don't see how anyone would consider it soft core by any means, other than the fact that there is nudity.

I may give it another go based on your recommendation. I generally like everything Showtime puts out.

We just finished season one and I like it-don't love it. Am I the only one who thinks Dr. Master's is one of the least likable characters ever? Serial killers are more likable imo.

Virginia definitely has more of a halo around her in season one. Season two she doesn't. Season two, especially the last two episodes have been exemplary.

Will Arnett Confirms ‘Arrested Development’ Season Five!

Go Gophers!!

Ummm, this Lifetime unauthorized "movie" is going to be one of the worst reproductions of what was an American TV juggarnaut for most people ages about 28-42:

Go Bayside!!

Showtime gives 'Homeland' two-hour premiere on Oct. 5

The network announced that it will air the first two episodes of the CIA thriller’s fourth season on Oct. 5, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Set in Islamabad and Kabul, the new batch of episodes will feature several new faces, including Suraj Sharma, who plays a Pakistani medical student whom Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) encounters, Laila Robins as the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, and Corey Stoll as the CIA chief of station in Pakistan.

Hopefully the show gets back on track. Seems like it has never quite lived up to its potential. However, the second half of season 3 seemed to be moving in the right direction.

I never got around to finishing season 3. I had about had it about when people said it started getting good again. I think I might need to catch up in hopes of season 4 delivering.

Although maybe I shouldn't catch up, because apparently when I watch every week the show sucks.

'Hell on Wheels' anyone?

I have been up and down with this show. I really liked season 1 and 2, but last season seemed to wander all over the place. I tend to prefer the episodes that deal more with the construction of the railroad. The whole detour to the Mormon fort was getting awfully old to me, so I hope they'll get the focus of the show back to the railroad.

The Leftovers on HBO just finished up a very good first season.

There's a show in production for HBO called "Stillwater" that is supposed to be set in Stillwater, MN. I'm not sure when it will air, but it's about an ex-NYC cop who moves to Minnesota. Colin Farrell is attached to it in some context.

My wife and I really like this new show called Going Deep with David Rees. He explores the science behind the mundane, like flying a paper airplane, tying your shoelace, and making ice cubes. I tried my hardest not to like David Rees, but it's impossible. The show is really funny and surprisingly informative. I know Ted likes to dig holes in his backyard. There's an episodes about digging holes he might find useful.
