Go Gophers!!
Do you have feeling on this decision? I'm just a fan who loves watching the team and wants the best for the Maroon and Gold.
Not Minnesot
I can't blame a good talent for going to a perennial preseason favorite.Don’t know how to embed tweets, but he just announced for Sparty.
Agree. Glad it’s over and we have time to grab someone like Pierre or Ziegler for 2022 and then go all in on Taison Chatman in 2023.This sucks, I really hate msu but hey at least it’s over with. Now we can move on and go all in on other guards. Didn’t see a scenario where we could get a solid pg like Pierre in September after Tre decided.
And he'll be a better PG for it. What are you trying to say?Watched him in sate tournament and his team was losing and his body language was terrible-no defense, making bad passes and shots. Izzo will chew his butt raw.
I think he will not make that big of an impact there and will transfer out before he is done. And he'll be a better PG for it. What are you trying to say?
Agreed 1000%.If this thing is going to get to a sustainable level, it’s going to be as a developmental program and that was likely the reality with any hire we made.
Good post. Agree with the general idea. I'm not saying today is the day , but at some point there needs to be results and not misses with excuses. Again I'm not saying today is the day but eventually the Tre's of the world need to come here not another B1G school. I'm glad others can be patient forever, im not that person I want results. Carrington was a nice start, but we need more. The Johnson hire was always made with a long term view for better or worse. Which is hard to hear as fans that follow the program as closely as us on message boards but it’s the reality of the situation. This is a domino that needed to fall for us as a fan base to fully shift our view on recruiting. I think there was some optimism as there is with any new hire that he could make a splash with some highly touted locals but we just aren’t there as a program. We’re far down the list in the college basketball food chain. If this thing is going to get to a sustainable level, it’s going to be as a developmental program and that was likely the reality with any hire we made. Our current targets are reflective of that, so for a fan base that’s been told to be patient for decades now…guess what people will be telling you the next few years haha.
Hopefully building it the right way (which it seems like we’re doing) will lead to better results and if that’s the case then we have a coach in place for 25 years.
What did you post when Carrington committed? I can't remember. This whole thing looks like we hired a pitino acolyte. Best go elsewhere and we get a couple.
Well said. Another top target from this class goes elsewhere.Good post. Agree with the general idea. I noticed this as well. I'll be curious to see how he reacts when Izzo is actually coaching him instead of recruiting. I would think it will be fine if Tre is willing to put the work in but Izzo struggled to ever connect with Rocket Watts and get the full potential out of him. Watts was a 5-star recruit. I expect him to break out a little bit down at Mississippi St this year. A lot more freedom there with Howland.Watched him in sate tournament and his team was losing and his body language was terrible-no defense, making bad passes and shots. Izzo will chew his butt raw.
No hard time line.Well said. Another top target from this class goes elsewhere.
When is it going to be expected that these types of players sign in Mn?
Next year? Two years? Three?
All this talk of building the “culture “ is code for excuses.
UmmmmmAgreed 1000%.
And that's why we hired a coach that had a proven track record of building up such programs at a lower level first.
I disagree but I the culture comment. It’s truly the lifeblood of a successful program. A great culture takes time to build. Look at what Fleck is doing. He built it with Tanner Morgan and now we have really good and higher rated QBs want to be here. Ben can do that too, but will have to do it with a less highly rated PG. Izzo won this one fair and square, hopefully Ben can in future by proving he can develop guys too.Well said. Another top target from this class goes elsewhere.

Been on the Mn bb wagon for 5 decades. Talking to me about fast and patience? No hard time line.
It'll be a process, hopefully successful, and even if successful I doubt it'll be fast enough for you.
I expect a four year build with steady growth, if by year four we're still bottom b1g team, time for another reset I guess.
I don't think there's coach that would turn mn into a winner in one year out there.
Explain the culture of UNLV with Augmon Johnson and company.I disagree but I the culture comment. It’s truly the lifeblood of a successful program. A great culture takes time to build. Just sign the best kids, like it's just that easy.Been on the Mn bb wagon for 5 decades. Talking to me about fast and patience?
Please.
Just sign the best kids. Win. Big. Your view may change after your 3rd or 4th decade.
