Well then what is Derek Rose? He got an 9 on his first attempt and then "mysteriously" got a 23 the 2nd time around..

They put your picture on your admission ticket now. It's almost impossible to cheat in 2014.

per ESPN's Q&A:

Charlie from Chicago writes: What recruits in the conference are due to have breakout seasons in their freshman year?

Adam Rittenberg: There are potentially quite a few this year, Charlie. Early enrollees have an advantage, so keep an eye on players such as Ohio State LB Raekwon McMillan, Michigan WR Freddy Canteen, Ohio State WR Johnnie Dixon and Penn State WR De'Andre Thompkins. Other potential impact recruits arriving in the summer include Michigan CB Jabrill Peppers (the Big Ten's top-rated recruit in the 2014 class), Illinois DE Jihad Ward (junior college transfer), Minnesota RB Jeff Jones and Michigan State DT Malik McDowell, whom Mark Dantonio gushed about Wednesday after he finally signed.

Go Gophers!!

Bleed cluttering this ACT thread with Jeff Jones crap. Get that outta here!

In all seriousness, hope he gets in, cause I can't help but think, even with the options we have at RB, that he could possibly step in and be very dynamic for us. In particular for an offense that's not exactly explosive.

They must of just of done that because when I took the ACT 2 years ago they didn't. You just had to bring your I.D....and we know how easy that is to forge. ;)

I only know because my little brother is a senior in high school and I saw his admission ticket with his picture in the upper right hand corner.

I am still not sure if *********** is a shtick or if this guy is seriously mental.

Look in eight weeks he's either enrolled or not! I can wait until then to worry!

I rewatched the spring game today, did anyone else notice towards the end when Kill had a pretty intimate and lengthy chat with Jeff? Looked like he was either trying to motivate him, chew him out a little, or just give him some positive words. It was after Jerry addressed the team when the scrimmage was over.

yep saw that too, he took the ACT that day then went to the spring game after.

FWIW my kid took the ACT a week and half ago on 4/12 and has his results already. My guess is that Jones would as well then.

Not all kids have had their scores posted yet, but many do.

It's probably going to take a while to count up all the correct answers that Jones got. That's how test scoring works, right?

I just noticed that Washburn's test scores have been rising for the last 3 years. Great school improvement. Reading comprehension was near zero and now is above 50%. Long way to go, but wow, improving. Also noticed that the number of full time teachers increased substantially during those same years. The correlation is amazing.

I am sure Jeff Jones was challenged to do well for the last 3 years. At some point he will make it to the U.

Some parents that were alumni moved back into the district and became activists, the school added a baccalaureate program, changed the schools boundaries back to what it had traditionally been, both these moves changed the makeup of the school. The addition of the baccalaureate program made it impossible for students to transfer out of Washburn to Southwest, the boundary changes added a large number of high quality students back to Washburn that had been attending Southwest. The school is closer to what it was in the 60's 70's, and 80's than it has been for decades.

good to hear. thanks for the insight. would love to see similar moves happen in other minneapolis and st. paul public schools. my parents both went to harding in st. paul. perhaps we will as it seems more and more empty nesters AND lots of younger couples with children are staying, moving into, or moving back to the city vs. living in the suburbs these days. i for one welcome that demographic, geographic and social shift. and i am a suburban dweller myself. think a strong central city and public schools are paramount to having a successful metropolitan area as a whole.

Nice write ups by both of you! I find this stuff to be rather interesting. :)

Doesn't his eligibility hinge on ACT and GPA? Even if he has his ACT results, they are probably sitting on it.

Keeping the GopherHolers in-the-know is probably not priority number one for Kill/Jones.

get ready for a 5 star recruit people. He will be the starter day one.

I mean I love the kid and everything and am super excited for him, but you can't just arbitrarily appoint him a 5* when he is a consensus 4* by the people that do it for a living.

People did the same with Reid Travis.

He is a 5 star for a program that has had as little recruiting success as the gophers, He is the equivalent to a once in a generation caliber recruit like AP or Clowney for any program with decent recruiting success.

You are VERY likely correct. At a spring practice I had the pleasure of listening to a conversation of two people who are close to the program and do know what is going on with Jones. They said the problem with Jones is that he has to improve both his ACT score and his grades. His grades during his freshman and sophomore years especially need to be improved. There is a process that allows Jones to raise them if he does certain things. Unfortunately they didn't say exactly what that was, but they did say Jones had his work out for him.

In order for Jones to qualify he needs to improve both his ACT score AND his grades. His grades won't be known until June so I expect nothing is going to be reported until both are known.
