All Things P.J. Fleck Rumor Mill Thread - Listed as Candidate for Other Jobs

That’s insane

You don’t target a coach for the 13th best QB in the big ten
If you think he has potential to be best in the league, with an NFL caliber OL and receivers, maybe it's not insane?

Just saying.

I don't think Michigan is actually targeting Fleck. I merely said IF you were GOING to target Fleck, THAT would be the reason why you'd do it ... certainly not because of his coaching skill.

Yes, it was a joke with my friend Spaulding - an online towel snap. It was intended as innocuous jocularity, but if you were offended by it, my bad, my apologies.

Okay.
No offense taken, it was actually a funny reference, and I was trying to be sarcastic. Spaulding No is lucky to have lomg hair. Those of us follically challenged would like to have the hair of our youth back.

Unsurprising that RTB is the hardest sell for the helmet schools. I don't see Fleck dumping it to land a high profile job, either. It's woven into who he is and what his purpose is.
Oh he’d drop it from the uniforms in a second for a job like that.

I agree with this but this also is true of 99.9% of candidates they’re considering so they’re in a pickle

For instance Kenny dillingham has a lower win percentage at ASU than fleck does at Minnesota.
3 years vs 13. College football playoff in 2nd season. Fleck 17-21 his first 3 years, Dillingham 22-16. Dillingham inherited a 3-9 team, Fleck a 9-4 team.

Referencing their first three years and then referring to a different team that PJ walked into in the same comparison, brilliant work by you there.

Perhaps this is naive but the Big Ten authorities would likely look with disfavor with an intra-conference coach poaching which would result in the cannibalizing (even temporarily) of the poachee. A fair-minded commissioner would make it known that Michigan needs to find its ethical safe-harbor coach somewhere else.

Correct....

Very naive

Kind of sad if RTB is such a hard sell for some people. I don’t get the hate for something that is so positive? He might try to have an alternate helmet with a paddle on it or something? So what? Just nix that part if it’s such a big deal.

Fleck was 23-15 his first 3 years here.
And if fleck went to a blue blood and went 5-7, 7-6, 10-2 he would be fired in year 4 with a 3-4

And the point I was making about dillingham is that’s pretty much what dillingham has done at Arizona state going 3-9, 11-3, 8-4. He does that at Michigan and follows it up with a 7-5…he’s on the hot seat

Michigan is surrounded by Great Lakes after all

Just got my head shaved and my moon roof is seemingly growing exponentially; men past 65 who sport a full length of licks are likely aliens.

ok

My question to the people mocking posts or the outright denial related to Fleck going to Michigan, how do you respond if they actually hire him? Other than saying "They're fucking morons" or totally changing your narrative.

This isn't a hot take. It's completely within the realm of reality that Michigan doesn't land DeBoer, Poggi is not an option, and they take a flyer on Fleck. He checks a bunch of boxes that they need checked related to an internal program reset if that's what the school tells the AD that's what is needed and the boosters can be convinced (sounds like he's not considered a nightmare hire by those who have connections with Michigan boosters in here). He can buy coordinators who can essentially run games for him, it essentially would come down to Fleck being agreeable to the AD telling him how they want him running game prep and gameday.

I imagine a lot of goal post shifting would occur because no one seems to have the capability or willingness to admit they're wrong anymore. The blindness caused by Fleck hate, whether it stems from his philosophies or his gameday coaching, has some of you off the wall. Although, those I'm referring to rarely have much to contribute to the conversation that's productive and usually involves nothing but criticism or shit talking.
