That's what a good coach can do for a program. X certainly didn't have that with the staff Johnson was on. Nor does the Gopher now that Johnson is here.
Both the depth of their sudden decent under the previous staff and the sudden turnaround under Miller are stunning.

Their rise this season is not that stunning. Of their top six players, five are holdovers from a team that finished 23-13, won the NIT, and was ranked #33 by Sports Reference's quantitative index and #35 by Sagarin at the end of the season. 5 of their top 6 players are seniors with two of them being 6 year seniors and another a 5th year senior. The one newcomer among them (Souley Boum) made two all conference teams prior to coming to Xavier, led them in scoring this season, and was first team All Big East.

Miller is an accomplished coach and has had a great first year at Xavier but it's not like this year's achievements were accomplished with a roster of odds and ends.

Just saw the worst flagrant 2 ever in the D2 Championship. A guy boxed out on a free throw and someone fell down. I wouldn't have even called a common foul but steratore and the announcers are fine with it. No idea what I'm missing that they saw.

This game is quite entertaining. 5 flagrant and 2 techs in the last ten minutes.

Congrats to FAU. And that's why you don't foul. Perfect last 10 seconds.

Regardless of what conference they are from, never underestimate 30+ win teams.

Fantastic postseason showing by Conference USA. Final four for 1st place Forlida Atlantic. NIT final four for second and third place teams North Texas and UAB. CBI championship for 5th place Charlotte.

I'd gladly take Dusty May or McCasland as the Gophers coach in a second.

Why didn't Dusty get a call? Indiana native, manager for Bob Knight, I recognized parts of his motion offense infused with modern elements utilizing four ball handlers.

Up to that point, he had 3 years experience, was under .500 in conference. Sure his resume was still far superior to Ben Johnson, but he wasn't really on any short list I saw at the time.

They mentioned the multiple ball handlers in the broadcast tonight and how tough that makes it for the defense. In a game where so many teams seem to run the same high-screen crap, it's great to see someone zigging while the other guy is zagging--and putting his own signature on Knight's trademarked motion.

I've felt for some time that the true Princeton offense never should or need to go out of style. Even Princeton isn't really running it. Just taking the general concept of four players above the free-throw line extended at any time and working a variety of innovative things from that basic set...

When did Treyton T start playing for Gonzaga (I mean he’d probably fit in well there if he could bribe Few somehow to take him on)
