All Things Kaden Johnson Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020, top rated MN HS recruit)

I would pay top hockey recruits to come play for the Gophers. Just the way it is. Do what you have to in order to get ahead.

we sure have lost a lotta kids to WI lately. It was a bloodbath in basketball and now football. we stink.

Eh I'm not gonna wish him luck. Once he ditches us for our hated border rival who have had our number for the last 15 years he's just another opponent. Could've made a bigger impact staying home and setting an example for other local talent but to each their own.

I'll wish him good health but that's it.

Hope he gets good grades, makes lots of friends, gets a good job after college, meets a nice lady, gets married, starts a family, etc..., but has a lousy football career, never sees a good bowl game, loses every game against the Gophers, and regrets his college decision. Does that mean I hate him? No, it means I’m a Gopher football fan.

Go to fricking notre dame or something like that then stay the hell out of our top rivals.. Tim Brewster was right on that why we haven’t won in 40 years at that time All the Minnesota kids go feed the rivals out of state

This is exactly what I’m talking about. The Wisconsin kids stay home but nope not the Minnesota retards

I don't know why guys are shocked SHOCKED at the allegation that money plays a big role in recruiting. As is being revealed on the basketball side of things, recruiting is such a big business, that it's the height of naivete to believe that money isn't involved in a lot of these football scholarships. I remember a few years ago some kid had an instagram account that was just pictures of the Alabama players and what cars they drove around campus. They were all insanely expensive rides. I'm not saying Kaden was on the take, but I'd be shocked if everybody involved in this (or frankly, almost any four star) recruitment was spotless.

I mean, I guess if the argument is that recruiting is a messy business so you never know, that makes sense. Then these types of posts should be on all of our threads - it's signing day. There is as much evidence that Kaden Johnson took cash as there is that Danny Striggow took cash.

It's almost like performance enhancing drugs or marijuana, it wouldn't surprise me if any college football got busted using these, but I wouldn't imply anyone in particular does without a shred of evidence.

yep. MN's best goes to ND, AL,OH - 2nd tier goes to WI then we get to battle NDSU and ISU. We stink and it's likely we are gonna stink. In case you are misreading this - no ill will to the kids who opt to play elsewhere.

I get that your posts suck and you are most likely trolling (poorly), but Alabama? I think we've had exactly one MN player in history sign with Alabama. And we have never battled NDSU for a single recruit. There are many examples of guys we've brought on as walk-ons who had scholarship offers from NDSU, and the only guy to ever sign with NDSU over Minnesota had been committed to NDSU for almost six months before Fleck was hired.

Most private schools, especially the religious in nature, have need based scholarships, many of which go unused. Actually go to a private school sometime and you will see kids from all walks of life.

Sure. Okay. I was more specifically responding to the previous post that I quoted. You’re comment furthers the advantage that private schools have over public schools.

If a kid don't want to be a Gopher so be it - This staff has made it loud and clear they want instate talent to stay home - I feel like this staff nailed down the LB position this cycle - Johnson is no big loss.

Agreed. Would have been nice to have him, so be it as he has other interest. Enjoy Wisconsin for your career etc.

Wisky still has a better deal going on over there. As usual they came to town and kicked our ass and now they are in the Rose Bowl for the umpteenth time. They want you bad enough they will out recruit us and everyone all the time. There are other factors involved too like maybe leaving town and actually wanting a tradition of winning which we do not have just yet. Good luck to him. Move on.
Those of you morons hoping for injury and disaster for the young man should be banned from this forum forever. You are low end and lack any class what so ever.

There is a psychological term: projection. Means that you accuse others (here the Gophers) of suffering from a defect (here stinking) that actually is one of your own great weaknesses.
