Doubtful but it wouldn't hurt at all if Jarvis is close with Drayton Carlberg.
 


I can't wait! I want whoever commits first out of Alex or Jarvis. Jarvis wants to be here and knows he has to commit semi quickly or the door will close. Alex probably isn't too bothered by missing out on the Gophers.
 

With Nate Mason, Kevin Dorsey & Jarvis Johnson, Pitino will have the ball handlers he needs to make this offense go.

I personally think Jarvis is more of a 2 than a 1, but similar to Mason is capable of playing either gaurd spot.

We're getting way too caught up in PG vs SG labels. All three are combo guards & that's what Pitino wants, multiple ball handlers.
 

LOLLLLLLLLL; I wonder if the posters who have pined for Tubby over the past year still feel the same way. Sadly, I'm certain that they do (forest meet trees)!!

I think if Jarvis committs it greatly improves our chances with future in-state recruits( I.E. Coffey, Trent Jr., Tyus's little brother, etc.)
the thought alone gets me excited and makes me want Jarvis to be the next commit more than Clarke and Alex

I have heard that some ppl think Tyus's brother will be at least as good as Tyus.
IDK if that is true or not, I have not seen him play enough to know for sure, but I have heard some say that.

Jarvis committing is huge. It shows that committing to the local school is "cool" again. Now that Jarvis is a gopher does Alex really want to be the bad guy and commit to Wisconsin? I doubt it. Pitino and co. at Minnesota is now a cool place to play again. The results and playing style speak for themselves in just one year. Jarvis committing blazes the trail. With Jarvis in Alex's ear, I fully expect Alex to follow suit and be a gopher (again, assuming Pitino isn't done for 2015)

Put a big W in Ben's column after Kimani has been pretty dominant in the 2015 recruiting class, and McHale pulled in Josh for 2014. I love this staff and how hard they work to get really good talent.

When did I say that? I said that it wouldn't hurt at the minimum in the event that they were friends and I even said it was doubtful that it would matter so I don't know why you're getting you're panties in a bunch over such a harmless comment.

This is great, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We know what happens when Gopher fans get too giddy.
 




Okay, now that he's in, can anyone explain his rating(s) by the recruting services? I thought Jarvis was a consensus top 100, then dropped a bit after a tough summer, and then bounced back. Somewhere in one of these threads, Amelia seemed to indicate he isn't in the top 150 any more. I think he's a great fit but it seems odd that his ratings would go down so dramatically.

I read somewhere on Buckyville that the reason for such a poor start to the summer was all of his ACT prep that he was taking and he had virtually zero time to practice. If you look at the last 5 Howard Pulley box scores you will see that he had point totals of 20,18,17,14 and 14 so he clearly finished off strong plus he has been tearing it up in the Hardwood Elite league and also played very well in the Twin Cities Tip Off Classic.

In all honesty who cares what his rankings are. We all know Jarvis and his game very well at this point and know he's a stud.

Guys don't have offers from Wisconsin, MSU, Baylor, UNLV, Marquette, Maryland, Iowa State, Providence, Wichita State and 10-15 more power conference / high mid-majors if they aren't a very good player. There has even been a few tweets sent out from disappointed Badger fans regarding the Jarvis to Minnesota news this week.

There are few things that interest me less than the arbitrary world of player rankings:

- Someone's fantasy team
- The recount of every hand of blackjack you played last night at the casino
- Political arguments on Facebook
- The mind-numbing minutiae in the arguments of whether a player is a 2 or 3 (or a 3 or 4, or a 4 or 5)

With Jarvis on-board, hopefully he gets in Susie Smith's ear from the DeLaSalle girl's swim team and we get a verbal commitment from her....

I think Jarvis' sister used to date Seth Green's cousin's best friend, so Green is basically a cinch to sign here.

Jarvis last game was HP EYBL's run came to an end at the Super Showcase after losing to a very good Alabama Challenge 64-53. In the loss Sam Neumann delivered 21pts/10reb/2ast, Bjorn Broman 10pts/4reb/3ast, Brock Bertram 8pts/3reb, Jarvis Johnson 5pts/2reb/2ast, Ish . Fact is Jarvis is a project, stats do not lie. You got shooting % issues and assists to turnover issues.
