Its not BS it is true and you know it. The U would never hire him. NC State doesn't care just like their big brother school doesn't care. (and most of the NCAA)

You might think the reasoning is BS and I might agree with you but the U would never even call Wade because the media would eat them alive for it.
Big brother is part of the problem for NC State. The NC board of governors that runs UNC is essentially selected by the legislature (there's a vote but obviously this is not likely to be a matter of great spirited debate). Big political reward piece. One of their recent presidents was a yacht and fishing boat salesman. Silly, but the problem for NC State is that this basically means UNC is favored by state legislature...which to add even another layer of irony, is in the same town as NC State.

I don't know how it's possible to cheat in today's paradigm, but someone in NC will be dying to find out how NC State is under Wade.

Well, if anyone can recognize cheating when they see it, it is North Carolina.

Oh I didn't mean to imply that any of this was fair. Just that's how it is. There are always going to be two standards in NC -- one for UNC and one for NC State.

The Wade era should if nothing else be completely hilarious.

I am 100% certain both have job offers already. We are just waiting for them to lose to find out which job offer each accepted and if either is with the Gophers.

Why would you have Tauer on the list? If he was the guy, he'd have been hired last week. Safe to say you can take him off. No chance he's the next Gopher head coach.
I think it's Medved. But if someone is going to make a list, that doesn't mean everyone on it is the #1 choice. You're right that Tauer probably would've been hired if he was #1; he's clearly not. But what if Medved and McCollum turn us down? We'll wish we had a list of third or fourth options. It wouldn't be the first time.

I hope he goes on a run. Raise his name recognition and status as a coach. (This is all assuming we do already have a deal in place).
We don't need him to go on a tournament run to sell him to the fanbase here so best case for the U (if it is going to be Medved) is a quick tournament exit so that he can get on campus and start working the portal ASAP. Whoever the new coach is he is going to have a lot of spots to fill.

I'd like to see at least one win in the tourney--- doesn't change the coach that he is, but losing a game he is favored in doesn't bode confidence.

I’m not too concerned about selling him to the fanbase but more success can’t hurt that. I’m more about selling him to recruits. If he is already locked in, I am assuming he will be recruiting by proxy through Thorson.

That's a fair point.

Chris Jans coaching now against Baylor. I still think he's the outside candidate. Iowa guy, may want back in the midwest. He would be a surprise but I like him.

Chris Jans would be near or at the top of my list, but Mississippi State has stepped up.

He is making over $4 million per year, just got an automatic one-year extension for making the NCAA tourney this year, and his contract calls for annual raises:

2025: $4.3m
2026: $4.4m
2027: $4.5m
2028 $4.6m
2029: $5.45m
2030: $5.55m

His deal calls for an automatic one-year extension and a $100k raise every year he makes the NCAA Tourney. So, if he keeps making it, he has a perpetual five-year deal.

His buyout is huge, too.

That may be too rich for little old Minnesota.

Certainly would be massive, but who knows, maybe there's some mystery donors now taking an interest which spurred Coyle's comments about "investing in the program". Like I said, would certainly be a surprise, but so was Ben.

That's fine. There isn't a big difference between a Friday exit and a Sunday exit.
