All Things Elijah Thomas ('15) Thread

I'm always undecided when it comes to situations like this. I'm sure the coaches don't want it to look like they are offering another player just because a kid wants them to, they want all of their offers to represent genuine interest. But it does look like it would be great to get both of these kids. At least Thomas says that it isn't a deal breaker, that makes me think this is more of a Newton/Whitehead package deal than a Tyus/Okafor package.

He did? :) When did he say that?

From his ask page...

Say Mn doesn't offer your boy is that a break all kinda deal? Nah

Speaking of "creepy"......Whoever keeps asking about his girlfriend needs to back off.

Agreed! And his family in Minnesota! We're not trying to look like creepy, stalker, under cover detectives... Just ask about basketball & the gophers.

I will be watching their game in person Friday and hopefully Saturday as well. Their 2014 G Kaelon Wilson is outstanding (signed to Abilene Christian...steal of the fall signing class)

It's kinda creepy asking a kid questions on his ask account period...LOL.

Pretty sure most his gf and personally question are from fellow students, not sure how any of us would know his gf's name. Those ask accounts are usually attended for their friends and classmates to ask them questions, and not attended for fan bases to sell their school, but we're one step ahead of every other school and have used it as a recruiting tool. But if it is someone on here that is asking personal questions like that, then yea, lay off a little. Someone also tell the guys at buckiville telling elijah he can't beat wisconsin and how bih and bad the badgers are, isn't going to scare him away from minnesota.

LOL, pathetic gopher fans, just tell em already you won't be joining their team because you ain't want to face my badger year after year, you'd get destroyed by Nigel Hayes! Stay at SMU so you can dominate their weak competition. B1G just ain't for you man

Your a cute little fan;) lmao

So your saying that this thing you call ask, was created for someones friend to ask him a question.... online.... what ever happened to physically asking the question? Or perhaps like, instant messaging, texting, instagram, twitter, myspace, facebook whatever else there is out there now.... Telegram?

Winasota - I think it was created by a parent of a young teenager to monitor what's going on with his/her kid. It's very effective to see what kids are talking about, or so I've been told.

I'm only 19 and many of my friends have an "ask" account. It's just another way to have fun on social media.

The "anonymous" part is its biggest draw. Kids get to ask people they admire questions that they would otherwise too shy to ask, and the people with the account get to see what people really think of them, and they can ignore questions they don't want to answer where if your asked directly by someone you have to answer it or dance around it. Social media will keep changing, like with most kids, their attention span isn't the greatest, so they will eventually get bored with whatever is "in" and move on to another thing. Like myspace to facebook to twitter, something new will come along that all the kids will move to

GARLAND — Lancaster rallied from a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat South Oak Cliff, 82-77, in a Class 4A Region II semifinal at the Culwell Center.

Lancaster trailed, 67-47, with seven minutes remaining before going on a 28-5 spree with hot shooting and frenetic defense leading to transition baskets. Guard Antwon Portley and forward Elijah Thomas accounted for 20 of 35 Lancaster’s fourth-quarter points.

“Every day in practice, we have to make three defensive stops in a row and score each time,” said Thomas, who ended with 18 points and 14 rebounds. “That was the mind-set. We believed we could do it. We had the want-to.”

Lancaster (31-4) advances to the regional final with a berth to the state tournament in the balance. Lancaster defeated SOC (27-7) twice earlier this season but trailed by 20 points Friday after SOC’s first basket of the final period.

“I looked at the scoreboard and turned to my assistants and said, ‘We’re down 20,’ ” Lancaster coach Ferrin Douglas said. “We got some big baskets, got a lot of hands on balls for turnovers and to come back from 20 against a great program like SOC in the regional semifinal; we have to believe we can win state.”

The frantic comeback was completed when senior guard Kaelon Wilson hit two free throws to tie the score, 70-70, with 2:20 left. Senior guard De’Angelo Jones picked off an errant inbounds pass on the next possession and Lancaster scored to take a 72-70 lead. Portley scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to spark the run. Thomas controlled the boards with his rebounding and shot-blocking.

SOC had taken its big lead with a 28-point second-quarter, creating a 65-47 halftime edge. However, SOC went without a field goal for nearly a six-minute stretch. SOC junior guard CJ Massingburg had a team-high 14 points but fouled out late in the fourth quarter.

I get it, and understand how innovation works. You cannot refute the absurdity of the need for another social program to ask people questions... And the draw is "annonymity" when people have twitter handles completely dedicated to being "not so-n-so"

Flip needs to hire Larry Brown as head coach and Fred Hoiberg as the lead assistant/heir apparent.

Thomas is already transferring out of Texas A&M:

Elijah Thomas, from Lancaster high school, has decided to transfer out of the Texas A&M basketball program.

The 6-9 freshman power forward was part of the Aggies' most heralded recruiting class in recent history and showed a lot of promise in his future.

However, the start to Thomas' collegiate career was a rocky one; his very short time with Texas A&M has been riddled with injury.

During the team's foreign tour in the summer, Thomas had to sit out two games because he stepped on a sea urchin in the ocean, resulting in a gash on his foot. Then, once the official practices for the season began, Elijah suffered a minor concussion and was forced to the sidelines for a week.

After being cleared for all workouts, the big man injured his foot and was again forced to sit and watch his teammates for another four weeks.

Go Gophers!!

Would love to see the gophers go after him. I think he would be a good small ball center for us. Sounds like A&M fans aren't too sad to see him go, but kid has tons of talent
