All Things COVID-19 College Football Impact

Congrats on your evolution. You went from only posting about Kevin Warren on every comment to now repeating the "your Mom's basement" line all the time. You're a Two-Trick Pony! You really did it!!

well, you didn’t dispute either, so thanks for clarifying what I was saying as fact. I have better things to do such as “work”.

A. My Mom doesn't even have a basement.
B. I haven't lived in the same state at my parents for 20 years.
C. I rest easy at night knowing for certain my life is in much better standing than yours.
D. I feel sorry for whoever has you on their payroll for your "work"

For the record I'm the one living in the crawl space at WriterGoph's mom's house... it's not really a basement, but it's cheap.

The curse of humanity: corruption ruins government by the qualified, while idiocy ruins government by the common.

don't want to hijack the thread further into politics.

But - even if there are people out there who are actually going to base their vote for President on the issue of whether or not there is B1G Football this fall, there are not enough of them to swing the election.

I mean, seriously - the economy - a pandemic - "law & order," race relations - all of the issues in this campaign, and someone is actually going to base their vote on B1G football?

"I was going to vote for Biden, but Trump got the B1G to play football, so now I'm voting for him!"
I don't think the focus is trying to sway Biden voters into the Trump camp. Instead, he's hoping to motivate people who voted for and/or generally support him, but have been turned off by the recent events you cite and might be pondering sitting out the election. A lot of what he does is to try to motivate his base to turn out, not turn Democrats against Biden.

Biden must think big ten football is an important issue as he is blaming trump in his ads for the stoppage of big ten football.

Yeah this seems like it would be intended to target his folks more than anything... claim to have tried to do something about it and <insert other folks> stopped it.

In the meantime I can't believe you're not breathing a sigh of relief about Susan B. Anthony's pardon.... that's been hanging over me for decades!

Fear and anger, motivate some people like none other.

I haven't seen those ads, but I am sure that Biden's campaign people recognize that it's an important issue for a segment of the electorate. Again, I doubt that the primary motivation of such an ad would be to flip a Trump voter, but instead to solidify support from folks who already like Biden ("that's another thing going to hell under Trump, no football!") and discourage the lukewarm Trump folks from turning out ("football, that's another part of life that I just want to get back to normal.")

Maybe, yeah. It's of course silly, but people base their votes on much less.

Publicly stunt or not, it’s a hell of lot better than not being interested in the Gophers playing this fall. Oh, wait a minute. That‘s what some of you And MplsGopher are you so stupid to still believe in the Russia hoax?
i'm starting to wonder if all this Trump accounts are the same person. Really I thought we were better as a fan base.

Stop trying to steal their precious bodily fluids....

But yeah the nature of the parroting exact phrases / talking points / funky internet troll lingo... you'd think folks would hear themselves and wonder why that is / that's not a thing they said anytime a while ago...

Can we all just agree that Gopher football is good and Trump has been and will forever be a terrible self serving person (who happened to bring our country into his abys).

Well I think you started off well there but I'm not sure that's quite the half way point...

How many Ohio State, Michigan/Michigan State and Penn State fans does it take to tip Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania into the Red on election day?

The irony here being, of course, that if the previous guy had done the same thing, said the same things, the masses would be lauding him as a champion of college athletics, a real difference-maker!! Someone who really, truly CARES about the college student athlete!
And Republicans would have been screaming the world is ending.

Let me go out on a limb for you, maybe it has something to do with the way we reported the Covid deaths? Maybe all Covid deaths being subsidized had something to do with an inflated cause of death?
What in the world do you mean? You have every country in the world trying to minimize the number of casualties as possible and you have the US trying to maximize the casualty numbers; what could possible go wrong?

I will agree that Gopher football is good. On the other thing, Trump is single handedly battling the political elite and the corrupt mainstream media . . . so I'm going to cut him some slack for his tone and his tweets. (Sometimes the bouncer has to get tough when he's trying to protect the door) Put policies on the white board when you vote, not names. Easy choice.

Dude, "single-handedly"? What? Trump has the whole Republican establishment behind him. He has a Senate majority and his buddy Mitch doing all the dirty work. Let's not act like Donald is some martyr fighting for the good of America on his own. Even those who support him would tell you everything he does is somehow tied to his own personal gain. That is no secret to anyone. Even those stuck in North Dakota. :p

Yes, the lefty B1G should stick to their no football, self imposed, death penalty. Stick it to Trump and bury the league in debt. That will teach Trump for meddling.

The mayors of Portland and Minneapolis agree with you.

This is really it. These are all battleground states that love college football.

The total difference in votes between Clinton and Trump in Wisconsin, PA, and Michigan was under 90,000 (out of 11.5 million).

At this point there are so many rumors I won't believe any changes to the current state of the season until they come to pass.
Correct.

As I said ... I think we’ve turned the tide, where the internet is more often use to disseminate misinformation, than it is used to genuinely inform.

The problem: putting out disinformation on the internet costs nothing.

They are supposedly voting on Friday, but I’m sure that subject to change.

Well, if there’s truth to it, it’ll be public soon enough.

I’m not purchasing a subscription to Bucknuts, G.I., or any other 247 pay service to find out a couple hours earlier.
