All Things Christian Wiggins Recruitment Thread (Wayzata Guard, 2026)

A friend of mine (U of M grad) has three children. The oldest two went to Iowa State. His youngest was dead set against doing the same thing as her siblings; she wanted to be different. But she toured ISU anyways. Before the tour was over, she decided she was going to Iowa State.

I've never been to the campus myself, but that story tells me everything I need to know. I'll never begrudge anyone for choosing ISU, especially for an engineering discipline. Top notch in every way, including research. We should've gotten them into the conference instead of Nebraska.
And I’m sure he’s there for engineering!

Iowa State hit a home run when they hired TJ and we went with Ben.
They were not throwing darts at a board, either. He was a long time assistant there and had a track record as a head coach. The only comparison is that they were hired at the same time. It’s not like we had a chance to hire TJ.

I've never heard anyone disappointed in choosing ISU which says something about the school.

I will say Hilton is overrated- fans are great and loud but the actual arena is a dump. Ugly 70's cookie cutter cement architecture
Brutalism architectural style

My niece attended one year. She couldn't stand it. She left for Kansas and received both her BA and MA there. KU was a much better fit.

Committed until someone gives him more money. No contract so a commitment means a lot less than it used too. I would feel the same way if he committed to the Gophers while still in his junior year of High School.

The Hilton comment made me chuckle. I was a student when we moved from the Old Armory (think Barn vintage only even more "vintage"). I hated it and the plush cushion theater seats. And, of course, now love it since it has now turned vintage itself just like me. Although I didn't get a nice upgrade like the new mega video scoreboard.

It's actually a nice design with the lower bowl seating seating 5700 and the 2nd level 8700. It's full for MBB but with the lower level full for WBB it still "feels" like a full arena.

A lake-neighbor summed it up best for me: "If Iowa City had a vet program, I would've stayed in Iowa. Instead, I transferred to the U because Ames sucks."
