All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

I wasn't even sure Rob was still with the Vikings? He's definitely well-respected

"Relationship issues" in an organization run by the Wilfs.

Go figure. Least surprising comment ever.

Multiple Billions of dollars does not buy one a clue for how to run a successful on field enterprise.

There was an article with an interview about him regarding Darnold and he came off very poorly in it.

I wonder if he was the voice who didn’t want to roll with Darnold and Wes JJ ride or die.
Final regular season game and playoff game last year he looked like the same old Sam Darnold.

I had no problem moving on from Darnold.

What looks like a mistake and may have cost Adofo-Mensah his job was if he made the call to take JJ McCarthy over Bo Nix

That was two games and the OL was horrendous 🤷‍♂️.

My comment was because if the timing in Darnold making the SB and KAM’s comments in the article so posted.

Interesting point as Nix is the real deal.

I do recall a lot of fans questioning JJM as a starting caliber QB, but I don't recall many that were opposed to letting Darnold walk. I didn't.

He did some good things but horrific drafts, some marginal FA signings and no Playoff success was the end of the road for KAM.

I'm actually surprised it happened but it was time.

For all you KAM backers, I've run this bit before, but good grief does it bear repeating. On top of that, Cine got paid $11.4MM from the Vikes for that one assisted tackle.

The buck stops with the GM so no problem with him taking the fall here.

There have been bad draft picks and certainly this past season bad free agent signings. (However would be kinda interesting how much input koc and Flores had in these personnel decisions that went sideways.).

Yeah, then throw in the Booth pick as well.
First impressions mean a lot. The failure of these picks dogged kwesi throughout his tenure.

The media posted the culture was the best in the NFL. 1st qb skill set deception and now this.

At the very least, I'm guessing this years draft will basically be "take best guy available" and they won't get too cute and trade back so many times they accumulate innumerable 7th-round picks like Spielman used to do.

At the risk of sounding like a KAM apologist: (yes, I was okay with him but I'm completely fine with the Vikings moving on, and I'm excited to see who they can get and what they bring to the table, but...

The Hamilton/Cine (and throw in booth) situation was driven by the new DC, Ed Donatell. For the one millionth time. Good Lord. This was widely reported at the time. It was also fairly common knowledge prior to that draft that Hamilton was a fairly specific fit for a particular defensive scheme, one that most definitely wasn't Donatell's.

Another minor note as well, as is typical for just about any early offseason GM change; the first KAM/KOC draft was conducted using the entire scouting staff from the previous regime. That always happens during regime changes. The scouting staff sticks around and basically gets let go the week of the draft and then they start bringing in their own scouting department personnel

Thank GOD we can stop beating this f*cking drum relentlessly and move on now.

This may not be a horrible move, but I would think it would have to be after a pretty exhaustive GM search and thorough interview process.

LOL from 3 weeks ago, at the beginning of this thread.

Vikings have won 43 games in four years under this regime. The people who are thinking KAM is on thin ice, or even should be, are delusional.

Things Vikings fans have wanted the FO to do over the last several years since they took over;

- Get out of the cap hell that Spielman left them in with aging contracts - Check
- Escape the Kirk Cousins guaranteed contract situation and move on from him - Check
- Draft a 1st round young QB to hand the keys to the franchise - Check
- Improve the OL, most notably move on from Garrett Bradbury at Center - Check

Yes, among those, the Kelly signing at Center turned sour, but he was basically the best available and his signing, with Fries, was lauded by basically every expert as A+ offseason moves.

They've missed on a few draft picks, like everyone does in this business. Too bad, keep crying and screaming or move on and move forward. Time to get over it. Handling the draft is probably about 30% of the GM's job

And I know what one of the cries will be, they have some contracts to address in a few months, and they do. But if you think they are moving on from multiple impact players that will decimate the roster, you're also delusional.

I always loved the Kwesi cool cat response. Something along the lines of ‘Yeah, I rarely make it out of my office and havent been to the practice field in weeks…. Oh brother.

I was wrong. During their entire time owning the Vikings, the Wilfs have not exactly shown that they are prone to a great deal of turnover in the organization. Look at how long previous HC's and GM's lasted. I made a comment based on their history of making changes and I was 100% wrong, clearly the internal friction and boiling relationships became too much.

More on Brzezinski.....

If Rob B was handling contacts and KOC/Flores and scouts were handling talent evaluation it does beg the "what would you say you do here?" question for Qwesi.

Not sure how legit this is but I've seen a few things kinda indicating the same thing. If true, and KAM put the Vikings in the Howell/Wentz situation last July/August, that's a terminable offense there for sure.

I can't imagine any organization giving their general manager a pass on a really bad draft, so we will disagree on that.

The free agents brought in this year were disappointing, despite vikes spending second most in league in free agency. This has to fall in lap of general manager. So we disagree here.

The Darnold situation.

And no doubt there are other issues behind the scene as well. I will grant that kwesi was in perhaps an impossible situation, as he was maybe more of an analytics guy more than a football guy. But at some point the buck can't be passed anymore.
