First off, very few pitchers are top end starters, as mostly it’s your number 1 & 2; the 71 Orioles’ rotation isn’t toeing the rubber for any club🤷‍♂️

Likely won’t happen this year, if it does happen

Prielipp is likely on an innings count because he’s thrown so few, ever. Per Hayes’ column May 28 -

Drafted in 2022, Prielipp’s most innings pitched in any professional season is the 82 2/3 he threw last year. Prielipp spent the 2025 season pitching once a week, and the Twins want to provide him with extra days of rest whenever they can. The team is also likely looking to limit the rookie’s overall innings to the 120 range, and Prielipp has thrown 49 innings this season between the minors and majors.

Rojas also is limited in how many innings he can pitch this season for the same reason. They need Zebby to stay built up as a starter and use him, as needed for injuries and to give our premium prospects the rest they need do they don’t blow out their arms.

It might not even take that many wins. Right now Texas, at .500, is sitting in the last playoff spot. The NL has been dominating the interleague play. Hard to tell which division is the worst, the AL Central or the AL West.

True, it might not.

I based the educated guess at 83/84 Ws thinking that teams that are really crappy in the AL will get even worse by trading current roster assets to allow someone like Texas or Toronto to get a few games above .500 by feasting on even weaker intra-league competition.
 








Twins injury news - from Hayes’ column today​

Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll announced that top prospect Walker Jenkins (left shoulder sprain) is expected to start a minor-league rehab assignment at Single-A Fort Myers on Saturday. Jenkins hasn’t played since running into the outfield wall May 3.

Zoll also said Kendry Rojas (left elbow inflammation) would throw a live batting practice at Fort Myers on Saturday and Mick Abel (right elbow inflammation) will participate in a light bullpen at Target Field. Abel is likely to have at least one more minor-league rehab start after pitching three scoreless innings for St. Paul on Wednesday night.

Ryan Jeffers (broken left hamate bone) is participating in catching drills and started taking dry swings two days ago, Zoll said. The Twins still haven’t established a timeline for his return.

Pitcher Bailey Ober (right elbow inflammation) played catch for a second day in a row Friday after a 10-day shutdown. Zoll said Ober is at least a week away from throwing off a mound.

Pitcher David Festa (right shoulder impingement) is playing long toss and is roughly 10 days away from a potential bullpen session, Zoll said.

Zoll also said prospect James Ellwanger (right elbow sprain) had a setback last week and is scheduled to be assessed by Dr. Keith Meister on June 23. The team anticipates the pitcher will need surgery, Zoll said.

In his first game action in nearly six weeks, Walker Jenkins picked up right where he left off.

The Twins' No. 1 prospect -- and No. 11 overall, per MLB Pipeline -- rapped out four hits in the first game of his rehab assignment for Single-A Fort Myers in a 15-5 loss to Dunedin on Saturday night. Jenkins had been sidelined since May 3 with a left shoulder AC joint sprain he suffered while running into a wall attempting to make a catch.

Batting out of the No. 2 hole and serving as the designated hitter, Jenkins began his night with a well-struck single to center field in the first inning. He added another base knock -- this time to right field -- in the third, before later tacking on a left-on-left double in the eighth.

Jenkins, 21, saved his biggest hit for last. Leading off the ninth inning, he turned around a 1-0 sinker and deposited it beyond the right-field bleachers for a solo home run. The shot left the bat with an exit velocity of 105.9 mph -- the sort of loud contact and pull-side power that Jenkins is known for.

The Twins originally selected Jenkins with the fifth overall pick in the 2023 Draft out of high school in Southport, North Carolina. He was hitting .256 with a .785 OPS in 25 games for Triple-A St. Paul before getting hurt. Injuries have unfortunately been a part of the story for Jenkins in his Minor League career, as he's never played more than 84 games in a single season.

But Jenkins sure looked the part in his return to the field on Saturday. He took a six-game hitting streak with him to the injured list, and he didn't appear to miss a beat while starting his rehab assignment.
 

Irony -

The home run made Wallner the Triple-A franchise home run leader with 49 surpassing Chris Williams’ 48. Wallner has hit 49 home runs in his 826th at bat, or every 16.86 at bats. The Saints overall franchise record is 67 by Ole Sheldon when the Saints were an Independent Professional Baseball team.
