All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Graphic on TV stated that over the last 2 seasons, Matt Wallner and Royce Lewis have the lowest batting averages in MLB versus fastballs.

Guess how they did with runners on 1st and 3rd with one out? 😑

If not established before tonight, Anthony Banda needs to be sent down or away. I’d say away, but what noodle arm do they have to replace him?

It doesn't matter. Zebby Mathews. Or anyone else from St. Paul. No self respecting MLB team can keep running him out there. My God.

The Twins were 11-7 on 4/14. Since then they have gone 5-16.

The bullpen is now second worse behind Houston. Opponents BA against the bullpen is .283 which is by far the highest. The lowest is Miami at .188.

Absolute gem by +WAR superstar Brooks Lee to close out the game.

Buck with all the RBI

Ryan gives up 2 hits in 6 innings, and 6 relievers combine for 5 innings of shutout ball

Buck with all the RBI.

You buried the lead.

Buck also had ALL the Twins HITS. Both of them. Leadoff solo shot and then they were proceeded to be No Hit for 10.1 innings. Buck snapped it with a run scoring double in the 11th, driving in the "ghost runner" awarded 2nd.

Very sweet play by Lee. I had seen him make a similar play while he was with the Saints 2 seasons ago.

He also made a game saving stab on a liner in the bottom of the 10th with the sacks full. That was while they had brought Austin Martin in from LF as a 5th infielder, just as they did B9.

Those were the only Guards hits for the evening. Despite the elbow scare this week, Ryan threw 107 pitches. That's the most he had gone all season.

All of this was after a 2 hour Rain Delay.

Wow.

Wow! Didn’t even realize that! Also had the Wild game on and the Lakers vs the Floppers

Really nice play, but more of a result of reflex and positioning, the game ending play was much more impressive.

Great to see Ryan out there looking good and loose. Can’t believe there was only 4 hits in the entire game. Every time I looked at that TV it seemed like there was action on the basepaths…12 walks in the game.

I, for one, never doubted Luis Garcia in the 11th....
I wonder if that got Garcia's Season ERA to under Double Digits?

Here is an article posted by the Twins’ MLB writer

The Twins continued their bullpen shuffling on Wednesday, acquiring right-hander Yoendrys Gómez from the Rays for cash considerations.

Gómez, 26, was designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, Minnesota designated Triple-A right-hander Christian Roa for assignment. No move was made on the 26-man active roster yet, but Gómez is expected to be added in the coming days.

You might not love our relievers on the mound, but you'll love them when playing Immaculate Grid!

He faced 1 batter tonight. Unscathed. Now Twins Grid eligible.

Didn’t see the game, but fwiw, the box score shows the save went to #40 Luis Gomez in what was his 6th appearance as a Twin🤔

No. It did not. I have to wonder if Justin Topa is also hurt. There's almost no way they voluntarily used Garcia over him in the 11th.

It appears we have a bullpen game today as Morris is listed as the starter on the MLB App after he went 2/3 if an inning last night.

Maybe the plan was to use Topa today for 2-3 innings?

And now he has his first Twin save, while hitting 97 on the gun - Big Arm indeed😃

Rojas with his first Twins W, as we take a series on the road from the Guards.

Mr. Royas hopefully your Saints day are in your rear view.

Loving these Fighting Shelton’s.

@Ope3

My bad - I conflated my Gomez and Garcia
Gómez also threw 1/3rd of an inning on Friday which I missed.

AppleTV.

Boom. With his 6.23 ERA I assume he's our new closer...

Hey Twins, this was meant to be sarcastic.....

Seriously the bullpen is gassed and their main "veteran" Topa hasn't pitched since Tuesday. He's clearly hurt or something why is not on the IL instead of sending down Funderburk?

Cheap Pohlads will not pay for translator for Audra to interview Kendry Rojas so poor Pablo Lopez has to do it...

From Hayes’ column regarding Morris’ development

• There’s promising development occurring with rookie Andrew Morris, but that’s expected to take time. Morris only now pitched on consecutive days for the first time in his career, hitting 98 mph while recording two outs Saturday and pitching a scoreless inning Sunday.

Now, the Twins need to see how Morris’s arm responds to throwing more frequently. With a day off on Monday, Minnesota picked an ideal spot to test out Morris.

Because the Twins are developing a rookie like Morris, the bullpen needs to be flooded with veterans instead of other young, undeveloped arms. Not knowing how Morris’s arm and body will respond, the Twins know they may need to occasionally give him extra days of rest. Having two young relievers on the roster like the Twins did earlier in the week, when John Klein was up, can be tricky because if both rookies are unavailable, it places a heavier strain on the rest of the bullpen.

It appears that Jax is being extended out to be a starter for Tampa. I know it had been discussed when he was with the Twins too.

Nice article about Brooks progress with the bat and glove
