All Things 2026 Gophers Spring Ball Thread (Tweets, Videos and More)

On Pair & A Spare podcast this week, Ryan Burns provided feedback from the 3 practices he's observed this spring. He reiterated that Hayden Moore has stood out among freshman WR's. He commented on how he goes full speed in all the drills. Jalen Smith looking good. Javon Tracy "up and down". Drake has said positive things about WR transfer Noah Jennings.

Sounds like Fruechte is really riding the WR corps.

OL continues to be a concern as the DL is just dominating them right now. However; the OL is missing 3 projected starters this spring and they are intentionally forcing the lineman to try and block 1 on 1. Smith, Bush and Menz are really making them work.
"Anthony Smith has been unblockable"
"TJ Bush has looked very good".
Not cause for panic yet but it's clear right now that the DL is further along than the OL.

With that said, Bennett Warren did get awarded the juice jersey this week based on his performance in the scrimmage last Saturday so coaches are at least pleased with his effort.

They like Ayden West from Michigan State at CB. Naquan Crowder (DT from Marshall) is expected to contribute this year.

That has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen! Who in their right mind would think that’s good for your players? Full speed right at the knees? 2 players? That’s just begging for a blown knee or ankle. Find a safer hitting drill, no problem with the hitting it’s the how they chose to set this up that’s the issue.
Actually.....it's 3 on 1. Just insane. It's like punishment for the guy with the ball.

Good recap ... I heard it, too. Just one thing I thought I heard differently. There are three returning/projected starters on the OL (Roy, Johnson, Beers) and one (Johnson) has been out this spring. There have been a number of other guys rotating in and out with Roy and Beers this spring.
