QB proof means, you don't need a "plus" player at the position because the coach has schemed the offense to protect you. There's a reason literally every rookie QB when asked last year and all the FA QBs would want to come here. It's a massively QB friendly system with huge amounts of talent at the skill positions, playing in a dome, with a coach who was on the record saying he was speaking into his QBs headset as the play was getting set telling him where his read was (to Dobbs).
Same thing Ben Johnson did for Goff and what McVay has done historically. There's a reason guys have come from nowhere to look really good here and then gone to do nothing/look bad elsewhere. You just need a guy who has enough arm talent and won't hurt you.
If you were getting prime Rodgers, yeah absolutely go get him if you can at a discount. You're not getting that now and he's not coming in to play mentor or ride coattails to get another ring. He'll retire instead of do that. My concern is he doesn't have the arm strength or mobility he used to but still loves to go off script and audible which is certainly not what we're looking for with a KOC offense and this was playing with a pair of great wideouts in Wilson and Adams with a very good receiving back in Hall in a terrible AFC East and drawing the AFC south in crossovers.
I just don't think he has it anymore and we have a friendly system for the QB. Spend that money elsewhere as I think the combo of JJ being good at following instruction, having reasonable at least arm talent, and way better legs at this stage than Rodgers provides more for this offense.
