All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

That would be an incredible record! :D
Fixed it! (86-84-2 for Fouts). Phone typo, poor verifying skills.

Thanks and yes, that would be a sure ticket to getting a Gold Jacket.

Love Brady or hate him, this is kind of a cool brief clip. That's why he's the GOAT and nobody else will ever come close....

A few tidbits from Schefter:

* The Raiders are expected to make an aggressive play to sign Darnold

* Rodgers not expected to return to the Jets even if he doesn't retire

* 49ers gave Deebo Samuel permission to seek a trade

There's a QB suiting up today who may already be "close" to Brady, especially depending on this afternoon's outcome.

Brady had Belichick, but won without the hoodie. Without Andy Reid (who took Donovan McNabb to a number of NFC Champ games), I would take the Eagles today laying at least a TD. I bet a little money on the Eagles today, but Reid (not to mention Spags) scares the hell out of me. The best Head Coach in the league right now. I think if you put Mahomes on a team in the middle of the pack, he'd win 9-11 games, but he's not advancing far in the playoffs.

I'm not sure I care that much about the game today, but I'll watch because I have a couple meaningless prop bets on it.

Joe Namath 62-63-4
For everyone’s consideration -

Author of the biggest upset in NFL history to that point when they best Johnny U and the Colts. HOF worthy

Our Joe Namath popcorn makes lasted forever, we finally sold it at a garage sale for &.50. Having an appliance or candy bar (Reginald) named after you, HOF worthy.

Having the panache to wear this on the sidelines and looking cool while doing it, HOF for anything EVER

This Kansas City guard we want the Vikings to get is being assaulted in this game.

Our Namath popcorn maker lasted well more than a decade after Joe retired.

I'm surprised you left this one out.

I'm going to predict this was the peak of chiefs football.

I'm going to predict this was the peak of chiefs football.

Their division is certainly going to get a lot better while the Chiefs have likely seen about as good as it will get, that could be right. The Chargers with Harbaugh/Herbert are only going to get better, the Broncos with Payton/Nix are likely going to get better, and even the lowly Raiders aren't going to be this shitty forever (?).

going to all of these Super Bowls is like playing an extra season. Kelce is now old and slow. He may retire. Kelce is what made their passing game go. Their offensive line is in shambles.

Mahomes has looked ordinary for two years in a row now.

Chris Jones is aging.

A beating like this in a Super Bowl is usually hard to come back from. I think they've peaked. They had a bunch of miracle wins this year.

We shall see

The butt kicking yesterday would indicate their peak was prior to yesterday. Or maybe the Eagles are in the midst of a historic run.

It has been the Chiefs defense that was carrying them in 2023 through yesterday. While they gave up 40, a lot of that was on turnovers and short fields.

While I don't think they can automatically be penciled in to future AFC Championship Games (they have made 7 in a row), they will certainly be in the mix and a threat in the next few years.

My takeaway yesterday is, man the Eagles Offensive and Defensive lines are efficient. I can't stand their fanbase, but anyone that enjoys football can't help but admire and be envious as to how well those groups play. They drink your milkshake.

Without a rooting interest in the game nor any action, I was actually hoping to see the Chiefs pull off something historic, a Super Bowl Threepeat. Oh well.

If Turner never has a Pro Bowl type season or substantially fewer than Verse then it's most likely a fail by misjudging the potential (or by the coaching/training staff to not maximize the potential into actual results).

PD guys talking about the Eagles top 3 rounds of draft packs over the last 5 years. Very impressive

Yeah. And they were saying Eagles didn't blitz once the whole game. Imagine that. How much would Flores like that kind of dline, or at least one better than what he has now.

The Eagles have drafted great, but they've also taken advantage of some mistakes of a lot of teams drafting in front of them. Jalen Carter, arguably the best player in that draft, sliding all the way to them was an absolute gift. The CB, Mitchell, sliding all the way to them last year at #22 when he was a top 10 pick by most boards was another gift; the best CB available when they needed a CB desperately. The Giants botching the Barkley situation was the greatest gift of all, not to mention taking on M. Bechton as a reclamation project on the OL, castoff from the Jets

They've drafted really well, but have definitely been the beneficiary of some real bonehead moves by other teams, no doubt

There have been 6 quarterbacks in the super bowl who have never been blitzed.

They are 0 - 6.

Yesterday, the chiefs then had to keep extra people in to block, and the running back in to block. That leaves 3 receivers trying to get open against 6 or 7 defenders. Not happening!

Damn, that was a massacre up front by the eagles. They are all young, too.

Yeah, after yesterday hard to argue with a strategy of Vikes putting virtually all of remaining cap space and also #1 pick into the trenches

That was the least interested I've been in a Super Bowl in a long time. Certainly the two teams playing in it and it being a blowout played a part. But the game itself just doesn't have the feel it used to. It's become a game for the rich and famous.

And now you can buy some Joe Namath Hearing aids. 50 years later and still shilling for a $$. Inspiring.

100%. For anyone that has the SB on their "bucket list", I have told them to just forget about it. It's not remotely worth it. I did it once, and I don't think I'll ever go again even if my team was in it. SOOOOOOOO many of the people there are not fans of either team, they're there to "be there", it's not a great atmosphere at all, I was for the most part very unimpressed.

Save your money, and spend a fraction of the money going to a playoff game or even a Conference champ game. Two teams, two fan bases, everything on the line, an absolutely outrageous atmosphere, it's everything you ever want to see in a sporting event.

I've been to several NFL playoff games (including the Mpls Miracle) and I think every one was a game that I'll remember forever. Treat yourself to that, even if your team isn't playing, and forget about the SB.
