What's crazy is Darnold needs to win on Saturday to avoid both 13+ Regular Season Win campaigns resulting in Wild Card berths.

Oh, had I known we were going to win 5 in a row, I'd have definitely thought we'd stay put. LMAO
Again, I still don't get it.
and yes, they can drop to as low as 20
Don't the 18 non-playoff teams draft before any playoff teams?
I asked the question, and AI said you can drop to 20.Don't the 18 non-playoff teams draft before any playoff teams?
AI Screwed up.I asked the question, and AI said you can drop to 20.
Maybe this is wrong.
AI Overview
In the NFL Draft, teams that do not qualify for the playoffs are assigned draft slots 1-20, based on their regular-season record (worst record picks first). Consequently, a non-playoff team can fall no lower than the 20th pick in the first round, as slots 21-32 are reserved for playoff teams.
this is why AI is not really intelligence but just pulling articles and those with most hits.I asked the question, and AI said you can drop to 20.

this is based off the old, prior to 7 teams, playoff data, of which the league had done for longer and thus its going to come up as more data supporting this view despite it being factually wrong
If the Cowboys don't make the playoffs next year Shottenheimer will be fired. Unless it's a massive raise I wouldn't leave MN for Dallas.True
TBD.
Jerry is a renowned cheap skate, as noted in the article you sent -
Jerry Jones loves to talk a big game. Will he put his money where his mouth is? He has a low-key reputation for being cheap. Rex Ryan claimed last year that he would have been hired instead of Mike Zimmer to be the defensive coordinator for the final years of the Mike McCarthy regime, but Jones “couldn’t pony up the money.”
I don’t think Jerry really cares if he wins another SB or not; he’s got three, sells out Jerry World for all their home games (and hosts a ton of other events), and gets to be in the media, whenever his ego needs stroking.
The easiest way for the Wilfs to handle it is to simply make Flo the highest paid coordinator in the game; Jerry ain’t gonna top that.

“Righteous Bucks” aren’t the answer to all of life’s maladies, my friendThat almost sounds like a selling point. Big raise to go to Dallas presumably, if Schottenheimer gets blown out then he's either a Free Agent or Jerry is dysfunctional enough to have the new HC keep him.
Could also get an interim HC title as potential proving ground.
Bummer Bro, but I gotta drop this clip on you -The JJMAC yr feels similar to a possible sales contract that will make your year but the other side keeps putting you off - over and over. When it all falls through you find out from your competition that they were not acting in good faith.

Maybe you shouldn’t have trusted Uncle BillyGeorge Bailey: You don't happen to have 8,000 bucks on you?
Clarence: No, we don't use money in Heaven.
George: Well, it comes in real handy down here, bud!
Maybe you shouldn’t have trusted Uncle Billy![]()

Shocked about this situation. Diggs really seems like an intelligent person. Like really really intelligent! TotallyNothing says "not guilty" like a payoff to keep something out of court:
"Following Tuesday's hearing, Diggs' defense team said it was working on a monetary resolution to the incident, according to the Boston Globe."
Yea, always level headed and unemotional, too.Shocked about this situation. Diggs really seems like an intelligent person. Like really really intelligent! Totally
I wonder if he’d look good in Purple.Rough day for the Diggs Brothers...
This is a weird take, at least in my opinion. The Vikings didn't completely fail this season purely because JJM "wasn't ready". The Vikings were 5-4 in JJM's starts, and had he not had at least two minor injuries that kept him out, they almost certainly would have made the playoffs and he would be 7 games further along in his development than he is right now.
JJM may not have been as ready to handle the load in Week 1 as everyone wanted, but that's not what went off the rails this year. The O-Line being an absolute revolving door every single week was a very close 1B when it comes to why they aren't making the playoffs.
Van Ginkel being out most of September and October, then ramping up in November probably had more to do with the Vikings failing to make the Playoffs than anything. The Defense had like a 2 month turnover drought without him.
A healthy Wentz might could made enough difference as well.
Good point about Van Ginkel, and also Cashman.
Alec Lewis at The Athletic put out a great article this morning detailing a lot of the Vikings season, going back to the summer, and a lot of what went wrong. Most notably among what went wrong, pairing with JJM's injuries and that he was perhaps not as ready as some would have hoped:
- The OL additions of Fries and Kelly, that came with risk, did not translate. The Vikings had a league-leading 17 different O-Line combinations this season. Good Lord...
- The addition of Hargrave and J. Allen on the DL did not make the impact that the price tag would indicate. If not for the emergence of Jalen Redmond and even Levi Drake Rodriguez, things would have been worse.
- The injuries early to Van Ginkel and Cashman. Cashman was on a pace to set franchise records for tackles had he not missed time. Van Ginkel is just plain a force, his lost time was brutal
- Daniel Jones changing his mind to stay at the 11th hour and leaving them hanging, and then gambling on Sam Howell. I was one who thought Howell would/could be a MORE than capable backup. Major swing and miss.
And YES, to agree with you, Ope, a healthy Wentz most definitely could have easily translated into 1 or 2 more wins, which would have put them in the playoffs as well.
It will be an interesting offseason. The story also talks about some decisions coming with the coaching staff; not just on keeping Flores, but also many other position coaches who have expiring contracts.
Wait…..now they say that some were unsure? We have a full year of praise across all outlets. This is a weird take, at least in my opinion.
