All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion) is not expected to play in Week 13 against the Seahawks.

"After another catastrophic outing in Week 12 against the Packers, McCarthy was placed in the league’s concussion protocol. Rookie QB Max Brosmer is slated to start for Minnesota against a tough Seattle defense. It’s hard to imagine Brosmer playing any worse than McCarthy has over the past few weeks. Look for the Vikings to remain a run-heavy offense in Week 13 and beyond. Brosmer should be rostered in superflex formats."

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Vikings could pursue QB Daniel Jones in free agency this offseason.

"The Vikings let Jones walk in free agency last offseason, along with Sam Darnold. With the J.J. McCarthy experiment all but dead after his historically awful play in 2025, Fowler said the Vikings could sign a veteran to compete for the starting QB job in 2026. “The funny thing about that scenario is Jones would be an ideal fit in Minnesota, where he backed up Sam Darnold last season.

As the top free agent quarterback, he will score a sizable deal in Indianapolis or elsewhere,” Fowler said. “Still, the Vikings really liked Jones, and their situation this offseason will be far different than the one from a year ago.

Making a play for Jones would give him multiple options to consider.” Though Jones has struggled of late, his play is much improved from his final seasons in New York. He could have several free agency suitors barring a disastrous finish to the regular season."
Zero chance the Colts let him walk.

JJ is reported as limited participant in practice today, so it seems there's a chance he starts. Not sure why that would be a good idea for anyone though.

Cheap Wilfs.

Wow.

I just saw that now as well. That's interesting. That improves two positions on the Lions OL really, as the guy filling in at Center, Glasgow, is a better guard.

FWIW, I’ve heard Scheffer say before that when a player is listed as a limited participant, there’s almost always a no-go to play on Sunday.

Absolutely should take a run at him. He came to Minnesota to be under KOC.

Only left because he knew we had already anointed McCarthy and wanted no serious competition for him in camp.

End of the day, he will go where the money and best situation leads him. They had a great run this year in Indy, but the AFC is too difficult.

Put up or shut up with the $$$, Wilfs. Having a cheap rookie didn't do jack squat for us this year.

"not expected"

= journalism weaselry

She doesn't know anything any more than anyone outside the building knows anything. It will be announced I assume today or tomorrow, and until then there is no actual truth.

IF he is out of concussion protocol, then he absolutely will and should start.

He should start every game the rest of the season. Don't give a crap if it burns him into smithereens.

Have to know if we need to go hard after Daniels (perfectly reasonable) or try to draft a new QB this year.

Wow.

How is this allowable by rules??

He should have to wait until next season, then. That's what the rule should be.

Seems like a silly loophole. Close it

It's not possible for me to be any more indifferent to the rule.

Detroit puts on just an incredible halftime show on Thanksgiving yesterday and yet the NFL elected to go with something called Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl show. Peter Schrager approved!

I didn't know who Jack White was before yesterday but that was a pretty damn good show, with an appearance by Detroit native Eminem to top it off. Really good show, well done, Detroit!

Vikings-Seattle game appears to be an absolute classic "Pros vs Joes" betting line. Public money coming in on Seattle, but the professional money is hitting the Vikings hard; 83% to 17% of the money is on the Vikings.

The line has been all over the place. I think it opened at Seattle favored -10.5 and I saw it as high as Seattle at -12.5, and right now it's showing Seattle at -11.5 in most books.

That's just too much respect for Seattle and Darnold, in my opinion. One would think that after a year in the building, Flores will know exactly what is going to give Darnold the most issues. I also think Brosmer plays a decent game overall.

Since you were not aware of either Jack White or Bad Bunny, it stands to reason you may happen to like either just as well.

FYI - Jack White (just like Marshall Mathers/aka Eminem) is also a Detroit native. He was just inducted to the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame as part of the White Stripes. One would have be from another planet to at least not be familiar with their mega-hit Seven Nation Army.
