All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Calvin Griffith would be damn proud of the Twins front office. Damn proud. They got rid of half the team, including some good players under team control, slashed the hell out of payroll and they brought back and Amazon truck full of "maybe some days." The kid they are most excited about is a short, fat 18 year old catcher.
He’s 6’ 175 lbs, per his MLB prospect profile - see link below. That’s not short or fat, Mr. Bradley Beal 😎

Are you this funny in real life?

He has a nice swing YouTube. By the time he's 22 he's going to look like La Tortuga.

This is really foul. New ownership can't be any worse than these guys.

To be fair, the Twins Daily evaluation describes him as "thick bodied". I've also seen him described as "stocky". It's possible that a published height/weight description may not be 100% accurate. My driver's license proves this.

For all we know the next Owners were endorsing and/or encouraging this massive sell off.

Provincialism 🚨 my friend?

Where and even when would the Twins Daily evaluate/have seen a player in A ball in another organization?

You do realize that having an online presence doesn’t mean you use have access to or use actual data or have any expertise?

Ex: Tony Liebert writes for SI.com. I respect his hustle and effort, but anyone who doesn’t include second team AA Mark Setterstorm as one of the best Gopher OL in his list proves my point that writing about a subject doesn’t make one an expert. I prove that all the time on here, myself 🤠.

My guess is that the above sources you cited conflated Tait with another young Hispanic left hand hitter catcher prospect linked to the Twins in Moises Ballesteros (via the Ryan trade).

His stats in his MLB profile are 5’8” and 195. 5’8” is short, whereas 6 feet isn’t (that salient fact was skipped in your reply) and their professional evaluation of him includes a reference to his stoutness in his MLB Profile (his picture looks Turtlesque)-

Much heavier than his listed 195 pounds, Ballesteros has well-below-average speed and quickness, giving him no value on the bases and leading to questions about his long-term viability as a catcher. In 72 games behind the plate last year, he committed seven errors and 13 passed balls while surrendering 87 steals in 99 attempts (88 percent).

It's possible that a published height/weight description may not be 100% accurate. My driver's license proves this.
It’s also possible that the scenario I painted of a multi-billionaire entity (MLB), which pays its writing staff, has more accurate information than an entity without those resources, which likely doesn’t employ any type of editorial staff 🤷‍♂️.

My guess is Twins Daily does very little traditional reporting and simply aggregates news from sources and sprinkles their opinion on top

I might have got one right, and hopefully new ownership is much sooner than Thanksgiving. That will build some excitement for next year, when we play in FLA🤣

I’ve got my lotto number for the day, #1771.

Northfield Raider (Setterstrom).

Northfield Raider (Setterstrom).
That was my favorite era of Gopher football, except when the D were on the field, excluding Karon Riley, Tyron Carter and the D tackle who transferred up from SCSU who played for the Bucs in The League (I can’t remember his name), who all get a pass 😊

Great kid, family. He grew up 2 houses down from the house I grew up in.

Just found info on Twins daily. Rojas and Outman to St. Paul. Gallagher, Armstrong and Mendez to Wichita. Tait and Horn to Cedar Rapids.
Guess that means Bradley and Abel to big club.
Thanks and shout out to the Twins Daily for the info.

Roden just was off the IL yesterday, so 🤷
Look forward to Bradley and Abel’s debut.

Wow, were you the same age?

If he didn’t get the Gopher offer, was he going to go to St. John’s like Decker?

No, roughly 15 years older. Coached his older brothers in Little League.

I think there was a 9 season span in which at least one of the 4 brothers was on the NHS football team, at a time the Raiders were going to the Prep Bowl on the regular and even won it (Class A) in 1997.

If he had not gotten the Gopher offer, I think he would have still played big time college football. One of his brothers excelled at Northern Iowa (also Off Line), and I think Mase regretted not signing him. He was not going to let the kid brother slip by. Mark is the youngest.

The Athletic weighs in on the Twins fire sale;

Grade: B

Key takeaways: The Twins did an excellent job of selling, especially with their return for Jhoan Duran. Mick Abel, 23, has a chance to develop into a top-of-the-rotation starter once his command and control improve, and Eduardo Tait, 18, is one of the best power-hitting catching prospects in the game. They were able to shed a lot of payroll while also adding significant talent to the farm system, which sets the organization up for future success and its eventual sale. (The Pohlad family, longtime owners of the club, have been exploring a sale since last year.) If you’re going to sell at the deadline, you might as well go all-in, and that’s basically what the Twins did, trading their entire bullpen and the face of their franchise in Carlos Correa, along with others. They ended up keeping righty Joe Ryan after listening to teams’ offers. However, this was (almost) everything must go, as the Twins pushed the reset button.

What are the odds Buxton, Lopez, or Ryan get moved in the offseason?
Buxton has a no trade and said he’s not going anywhere regardless.

I think the Twins are sold sooner rather than later and we build around our starting pitching.

Reusse reported on SKOR North that the Twins Team Bus only had to drive from Cleveland to Toledo to pick the squad up. Almost like it was pre-planned.

1 hr 51 min drive on the Ohio Turnpike.
