All Things 2025 Minnesota Timberwolves Off-Season Thread

There are quite a few reports from credible NBA sources that PHO considers the offer from MIN to be the best by a wide margin.

The deal is centered around Gobert, DDV and Dilly for KD and the Suns are trying to convince him to reconsider going to MIN.

Who would play C? What are we doing at PG? This type of move would create more issues than it would solve. Weird stuff if true.
this would be an extremely wtf move

Guess we'd be changing identity quite a bit into more a run and gun kind of team if you're making that move with 5 guys who can shoot (would assume they'd try keep Randle and Naz if doing this) and multiple guys who can create/get their own

I think KD ends up at a team not mentioned yet, like Orlando or the Clippers as a one year rental, like Khawii was in Toronto

Per Shama:

Who do the Timberwolves select at No. 17 of the first round in next week’s NBA Draft in Brooklyn? It could be a center and the suggestion here is a sleeper pick in 7-foot-1 Ryan Kalkbrenner from Creighton.

There is speculation the Wolves could be interested in moving on from center Rudy Gobert, their soon to be 33-year-old center who is not only aging but carries a burdensome reported salary of $35 million for next season. The Wolves front office and ownership are sensitive to payroll and face an offseason where forwards Julius Randle and Naz Reid can opt for free agency.

Finding a trade partner willing to take Gobert could bring future draft picks to the Wolves and/or add veteran talent to the roster. The dream acquisition, of course, is a deal perhaps involving Gobert and bringing Suns superstar forward Kevin Durant to Minneapolis. Such a move would give the Wolves two elite and difficult to defend scorers in Durant and guard Anthony Edwards.

Howl Wolves!!

Kalkbrenner is closely compared to Walker Kessler as a solid rim protector and rebounder but lacks athleticism. I think there's a strong chance he's still available at 31.

I'm rooting for Walter Clayton Jr because he can flat out shoot the ball, is a good athlete, can run an offense and is a solid defender. I expect us to move on from NAW and wouldn't be surprised if DDV is part of a trade. He could help replace their minutes and provide PG insurance if Dillingham ends up being a dud.
