All Things 2024 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

2 un-earned runs allowed in the 1st inning - the difference between the Twins winning in 9 and having to go (at least) 12 innings. we'll see what that does to the pitching in the 2nd game.

for better or worse, SWR may have to eat some innings with his start.

Inexcusable two third strikes with sacks full.

In Jeffers we trust.

Santana looks horrible

What an amazing AB to be grinding like that, to put the ball on play. Make their defense and not the pitcher beat you - swing that stick.

Maybe that will get Wallner off the snide

Is this the first time in baseball history that a position player made a 3-run error, moved to the pitching mound, and allowed a 3-run HR in the same half-inning?

that might be among the worst half-innings of all time.

I suppose some pitcher has done it - but a position player? that has to be a first.

Lineup for Game 1 has no Correa, no Buxton and 6 guys hitting well under .200.

But the way sports go, they'll probably score 10 runs
Nailed it.

Took 12 innings and a 3Bman giving up a 3 run error and 3 run HR in the same inning, but still... good call.

Good day. Tip of the hat to Cole Sands with a solid outing in the nitecap. Got the key out to prevent a Tiger rally. And SWR did enough to warrant another start.

I still think it comes down to the Guardians and Twins again. So picking up two games on them in one day is good.

Twins #2 prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez saw his ops drop to 1.594 tonight. The 21 yr old off to a rather fast start at AA.

Let’s trade him to the Reds😃

Couldn’t resist.

In case anyone missed it, during the second game, they flashed on the screen numbers how elite out bullpen is -

We’re definitely second in two categories and IIRC, it’s ERA & WHIP - with the injuries, it’s beyond impressive and will keep us in lots of games.

saw a tweet that the Twins' bullpen now leads the AL in ERA.
FWIW - report in Strib that Jhoan Duran is improving and could be back ahead of schedule. also positive reports on Thielbar and Justin Topa, so bullpen could be getting reinforcements.

in other injury news, (believe it if you wish), Rocco says Correa's oblique is "not as severe" as first thought. Correa said he could probably play if he had to, but wanted to be careful.

64 pitches (44 strikes) through five for Big Bailey - great outing thus far, 1-2 more innings please and then bring on them birds

He’s looked very good since that first start. I’ve seen it suggested that KC has figured out some kind of tell or something. Ober’s numbers are significantly worse against them than anyone else he’s faced more than once.
