All Things 2024-25 Vikings Regular Season Thread

Aside from the point differential, here’s some other data points in how 2024 differs from 2022 via The Athletic -

The Vikings have more completions of 20-plus yards (48) than any other NFL team.

They rank second in turnovers forced (24) and fourth in sacks generated (39).

This is also part of our reality -

Vikings’ 53 turnovers since the start of the 2023 season are the most in the NFL.

If the Purple ever get the turnovers squared away (look the heck out. Just imagine if we start playing our best ball as we get to the playoffs🥳 and give the 🦁 a lesson in Detroit along the way, shaking their confidence) wow😃

If Gilmore is out for a while, the secondary could be an issue. as soon as Moreau came into the game, Arizona began going right at him for several big completions and penalties.

the overall talent level on the Vikings is good, but depth is very thin in some areas. like most teams, they are one or two injuries away from being in trouble. now, next year, with the cap space, they should be able to fix a lot of the depth issues in free agency and/or the draft. but for this season, they need to stay healthy.

Instead of Moreau, I'd rather they rolled with McGlothern and gave him some run so he can start to get real game reps.

At the risk of displaying some serious schadenfreude, it has been pretty delicious these last several days to watch the shitshow that is the Chicago Bears. The ridiculous way that Warren and Poles handled the Eberflus hiring, and the latest presser today with Warren and Poles, just embarrassing.
Poor Poles, sitting there like a kid who's dad had just bailed him out of jail for a DUI while Warren spoke for over 8 minutes about how he's in charge, but he's not in charge; basically said just enough to show that he holds all the power but somehow it will be Poles' ass if the hire goes to shit.

What a pair. Warren showed what a gutless piece of shit he is while he was at the helm of the Big Ten. I don't see any way they get this HC hiring right; not just that they are stupid, but I don't think there are very many serious candidates who have been paying attention that will want this job, Williams or no Williams. I also don't think they'll even consider anyone that wants/expects to have any say over personnel at all or have any power at all.

I'm assuming they mentioned on TV, but at least on the radio broadcast last night they said Winston had a Browns record for passing yards in a game. In typical Browns fashion, the record was made during a loss.

I would venture to guess that franchise records for passing yards in losing efforts (while not the norm) is not uncommon as they are often accumulated while trying to make up large deficits.

Per NFL Live, Russell Wilson leads the NFL with 30 completions of 20 yards or more.

I bet the Steelers will try and resign him for another ~3 years. I bet he likes playing for Tomlinson/Smith and having that D as well.

Arthur Smith absolutely deserves another shot at being an HC; what he's done this season with both Fields and Wilson is nothing short of remarkable. Very impressive. And I would bet about anything that Atlanta would have at least as good a record, more than likely a better record, if they had stuck with Smith as their HC.

Don't know if it has been mentioned on this or any other thread but Greg Olsen is easily the best analyst in football. It used to be Romo but I think he's become a little bored or lazy. The cliches, platitudes and "excitability" have replaced insight and information. Olsen is straight up smart. He respects his audience and he's not teeth gnashing to listen to.

What is your optimism level of the Vikings? Up, down, or the same?
Kirk is a statue and we know him. I'm thinking up for this game.

On the other hand, I thought the same way for Rutgers and Kaliakmanis.

I thought Russ was cooked. Not so.
