All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

These posts are becoming relentlessly negative. Do you guys hate the team. Were they 20 - 62 last year?
You are celebrating a two game skid. Predictable.

As noted, I've been pleasantly surprised by Randle--until the last two games. Finch has some pretty pivotal pecking order decisions to make on Conley, Randle and McDaniel.

It could be worse my chickadees -

The 76ers are off to a sizzling 2-8 start; who could have foreseen this, with warriors like Embid and PG13 as their standard bearers.

What does last year have to do with this year. I would argue with Dallas clearing out OKC the wolves should have been in the finals not getting run in 5 games.

Last year had a great vibe for most of the year. This year just has something off. Still lots of time to turn it around, but in the west you can’t afford to throw games away against teams worse than you.

You could get the same output from Shannon Jr as you are from McDaniels right now is at about 90% of the cost.

This team stinks.

And Ant the jump shooter is starting to decline

It'd be nice if they were getting the production out of the center position that the Blazers got the last two nights.

The wolves announced to the world earlier that they were going to launch 3's

Teams are now guarding the 3 and not worrying about much else.

McDaniels can't put the ball on the floor. Conley dribbles around the perimeter and can't beat people. Ant is shooting the three when the drive is there.

They can't slash and drive.

Portland has a lot of ones who can slash and drive. It was always somewhat of a mystery how we did so well last year when we couldn't drive the ball much. The defense was so great, they were able to overcome this.

And DD.........this guy has been beyond disappointing. He's getting little room to shoot though, as we aren't able to slash and dish much.

We will make the playoffs, right?

Rudy was taken to the woodshed last night.

Ant was taken to the woodshed by the guy he was guarding. He had a career high.

McDaniels has actually been solid in the last few games. The others.....
last night he was 3-9 for 7 points and fouled out.

I just don't see it with this guy.

Offensively, the team stopped moving the ball three or four games ago. Julius stopped passing and he's using the patented Andrew Wiggins in the lane spin move which invites defenders to take the ball away. DDV is shooting the team out of games as he tries to cure his shot outside of the flow of the offense. Other teams are picking the wolves up full court after made baskets, which is very disruptive.

Defensively, the team is very vulnerable down the lane when Rudy is out. Naz can be a rim protector on occasion. Julius, never. Rudy is still a competent rim protector but he's living off of his reputation. He can't come close to what Clingen was doing last night anymore. KAT turned himself into a plus defender. They badly miss that. SloMo as well.

This roster, the present and the future, is on Connelly. No amount of coaching is going to turn Julius or Luka into rim protectors or make Dillingham big enough and strong enough to play significant minutes against Henderson or any other big lead guard.

What the coach can do is get the good habits from last year and earlier this season going again. He can also adjust his rotation. That's on Finchy.

Last night 7 points, 6 rebounds, played 34 minutes and fouled out.

Game before 17 points, 6 rebounds, played 36 minutes with 5 fouls.

Heat game 9 points, 6 rebounds, played 33 minutes with 3 fouls.

Portland game before that 5 points, 3
Rebounds, 27 minutes and 2 fouls.

I am sorry but for $23million going to $30million a year you better get more. It’s tough when two of your starters are negative offensive players. Some might argue they have 3 negative offensive players with Connely showing his age.

True. He is also one of three players playing defense. Offense....pretty much worthless.

I think this team misses the leadership of Slo Mo more than people realize.
I just can’t accept that as a reason for this putrid offense and lack of defensive effort. You might be right, but that says a lot about the other people on the team then.

Timberwolves playing much better basketball tonight up 17 in the 3rd.

Timberwolves are chocking this game away. Kings down 2.

We going to OT.

Sacramento was missing 2 of their top 4 players.

One guy is on fire. He breaks the single game Sacramento record for a single game. (UNREAL)How about trapping him, or going zone......double him to get the ball out of his hands.

I'm wondering about our coach.

Finch doesn't actually coach. He calls timeouts once in a while.
