All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

It's amazing how much better your defensive effort looks when the other team stops shooting 64% from 3.
it's also amazing how much better the defense looks when you don't have guys eating a sandwich, talking to their friends, and eating another sandwich before they shoot the 3.

Why do you watch? Were they 20-62 last year? 0-8 this year?

It's fine to criticize. We all do it. You see nothing good or fun about this team.

Did I say something wrong. The defense was horrific in the first half.

Finch basically said that in the postgame!

They then locked in the second half.

Watched half the second quarter, depressing so left it till I checked in start of 4Q, which made up for it.

Rudy looking confident with the ball and making sweet moves.

Ant is just the third player in NBA history to start a season with 20 points and three 3s in 8 consecutive games; tied Paul George last night at 8 and Steph had two runs with 13 and 23 games in a couple of seasons.

Go chase Steph down 🐜

You are relentlessly negative. It’s a good product that is improving. Last year it was a very good to great product. The contrast between what this team is today compared to not very long ago is remarkable but you whine before, during and after every game.

Since this bothers you, I will keep doing it.

I simply state what my own eyes see.

I basically stated what Finch said after the game.

Your politics loss is coming through with me and I get it. No worries!

He's electric. Hard to believe we have Ant and Jefferson in this market. It would be great if one or both could produce a championship.

It's good to see Ant finally starting to trust Rudy.

The coach is calling the defensive schemes and Finch utilizes "drop coverage" on 73% of their rotations.

The Bulls basically started four (4) guards last night and each of them has a "drive rate" well above league average along with below average 3-point shooting %'s.

If you chose to say that Finch shouldn't have waited until midway through the 3rd Quarter to switch primarily to man-to-man defense, you'd actually have a point.

It will probably take this team, and coaches, at least 25 games to learn their defensive rotations and to trust each other.

The Knicks' identity last year was tough defense and they were widely considered the strongest challenger to BOS this year in the East. How are they doing to start the year?

Think before speaking. This isn't the OTB and we want to keep it that way, correct?

I never said any of that.

WTF?

I think this is the OTB......something you never said gets posted. LOL

In my sports fantasy world. They do it in the same year🎉
It's good to see Ant finally starting to trust Rudy.
This gives us another weapon; that pick n roll in 4Q where Rudy posterized Coby White was sexy as shite

You didn't say any of what?

Facts?
Stats?
Schemes?
Causes?
Opponent tendencies?

You're right...you mentioned none of it. Instead you whined, failing to use even an ounce of logic or reasoning.

Thanks for your input.

Rudy was stellar on offense last night
Ant took over.
Jaden had a pulse on both ends.
Mike hit shots.
Not much overall for 3qtrs but the 4th was out of this world.

Someone mentioned if they should watch the first half. I told them why they shouldn't, because they played no defense.

Scheme switched in the second half, but the key was they just decided to play defense. They were picking them up as they crossed mid-court and were flying all over the place.

That's what my eyes saw. Again, I posted what Finch said in his postgame.

Keep raging!

And I offered explanations as to why the team defense struggled last night.

Tell us again how many sandwiches they are eating, will you?

All I said was they didn't play any defense in the first half. FACT

You then lost it.

I'll let you have the last word on this.

They've got something in Dillingham. It's almost like he's breaking ankles every other trip down the floor. Damn, he is lightening in a bottle.

Tough to get a better start than last night. Rudy with those early blocks. Edwards with his scoring. DD seems to be settling in. Moves the ball quickly. He and Naz big shooters off the bench.
Portland set up for the loss after being in San Antonio the night before, just as the Wolves had to fly down there after the Denver win.
Cleveland just rolling. Score was 83-42 at the half?
“The Cavaliers became the first team in NBA history to win their first 10 games and score at least 110 points in each of them.”
One other thing on the Wolves, Ingles seems to have went from the 9th man to the guy that doesn’t play, but seems to be really enjoying just being there on the bench, getting in the ear of Edwards, Rudy, etc. If you didn’t know who he was you’d be asking yourself, “how did that Lifetime Fitness guy get on the team?”

Towel waving is a great gig.

This easy stretch is about picking up gimme wins (there aren't many in the west) and instilling good habits for better competition. The offense flows. The defense and rebounding has to improve if they want to come near last year's post season success.

Ant, Ja and Luka are the three most compelling players in the league.

I don’t find Luka Garza all that compelling.

That’s who you were talking about, right?

With 37 points and 22 points respectively, Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle have scored 20+ points in the same game for the second straight game and the seventh time this season, the most by any duo in the
@NBA
this season.

Edwards 3 shooting has been insane to start the year. Just remarkable.

I do hope when they inevitable slump comes, that's when he gets back to attacking downhill some.

But right now, if you're making em, preserve the body for the season long grind and let em rip.
