All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Time to trade Ant and build around Jaden, Dilly and TSJ. 😉
Someone needs to sit his behind down and give him a come to Jesus speech, as he’s going to drag the team/franchise down and out and lose all credibility and endorsements in the future - petulance doesn’t sell well, unless you’re young, drunk and Italian from the Jersey Shore.

According to ESPN Research, Edwards is the first player to receive 16 technical fouls before March since DeMarcus Cousins in 2016-17. For every two additional technical fouls that Edwards receives during the regular season, he will be automatically suspended without pay for an additional game.

Edwards has been called for four technical fouls in four games since the All-Star break.

Unless something changes, he's suspended tonight. They shouldn't need him to beat Utah, but that's going to really hurt if they lose tonight.

More opportunity for TSJ to continue to shine.

Tonight is just the kind of game they often lose (even with Ant). It's a talented and immature team, like its leader.

Yup, he’s out for tonight.

His marketability just went down as teams do not like drama and they don't like losing as a clear result of being dramatic. If I were his agent, I would have the heart-to-heart with him that he is ultimately going to cost other people money in the long run and that isn't fair. Isn't Ant suspected of driving away his ex over a child? The man is looking more and more as just being childish and not child-like, happy and affable.

His turnover ratio is 13.8% of his possessions, a very high percentage. Some would suggest that this is a result of the team wanting to get him the ball for his overall performance. I say that should be reexamined as this results in an extraordinary number of points for the opposition. His plus/minus per minute is 0.1025, meaning it would take 10 minutes on the floor to increase the score above the opponent by one point. Is he worth a lot of close games or can the team do better?

We came out of the locker room at halftime and got steamrolled by a lousy team. Can't happen but it did.
This team is opposite of clutch. Have seen it too many times this season. With or without Ant.

Another pathetic ending to a game against a terrible team. Conley shoots an air ball three with plenty of time left. McDaniels takes a terrible three next time down and then Conley picks up his dribble and forces Donte into a bad situation. Donte still had a better mid-range opportunity but for some reason decided to take on a taller player. Thanks Ant.

Did I hear it was a 27-4 run?

Holy schit balls.

Shannon was playing very well. Dilly was very good.
Yet we went with Conley down the stretch, who gives us nothing.
True, but neither point guard can guard a gnat. That's a big issue that no one talks about.

We have to sign a legit point guard in the offseason. Conley needs to go, and Dillingham may or may not be ready.

Sounds simple enough...a few questions:

How does that help us the rest of the season?

If the current season is a loss with Conley's rapid decline, wouldn't it make more sense to play our young guys the rest of the way at clutch times to develop their game?

What free agent PG do you suggest we sign in the off-season?

How many starting caliber PG options will be available for the Veteran Minimum contract?

We better hope Dilly ends up being the answer because our alternative options are quite limited with our current roster and Cap situation. Playing him 15 minutes a game and sitting him on the bench during crunch time isn't going to provide us any answers.

How many years has it been the wolves talking about “maturity”. Seems like every bleeping year they talk about improving maturity and it never changes.

Brogdon (Washington) is about to be a free agent. Sign and trade possiibly? He would be a lot better than Conley.

Three (3) years ago, for sure...but injuries have left him a shell of what he was. Dejounte Murray is probably the best attainable PG but he's also been a disaster since his trade from ATL.

I'm perfectly fine giving the full reins to Dilly for the rest of the season because our current roster isn't going to compete for a Title. Play the young guys this year and then re-sign Reid and NAW and see if there is a market for Randle and Gobert in the off-season.

Currently in the 9th spot. Looking more and more like they are stuck in that play-in jumble. Lots of games left, and the schedule is manageable, but things just haven't come together.

It doesn't help us the rest of the season as I've written off this season.

but I just look at how many one and two possession games we've lost this year with point guard play that is massively below average.

Yes, play Dillingham as a starter, but they won't

I absolutely agree with you...our PG play is the main reason for our demise this season. Outside of Dillingham taking his game up a couple of levels, it's hard to envision what the Wolves can do to solve this problem next year.

The rumor persists that the only team DAL talked to about Luka besides the LAL was MIN. They offered him straight up for Luka but wouldn't let Connelly talk to him about extending because the Lakers didn't want him to know he was being shopped.

That killed the deal immediately for MIN and he was traded for AD an hour later. I make that deal for Luka if there were assurances that Doncic extends with MIN. It's much easier to find quality Wing players and build around a superstar PG in my opinion.

Edwards- 35,000 for not leaving the court in a timely manner and throwing the ball into the stands.
Also got docked on his pay for that game suspension, 242,393

Man, I know he makes a lot, 42 million, but damn!

Maybe the NBA will allow those funds to go into Ant's child support fund.

Maybe they can get on a little run if Randle and Gobert ever get back.
I'm wondering if Ant doesn't go on a tear now because of this.

Maybe the wolves go on a run.

I just want them to get to a 7 game playoff series so guys like Dillingham can see it.

Edwards is going to try and do everything tomorrow. It'll either result in a 45 point triple double or a 2 for 21 effort from 3 with a dozen turnovers.
