All Things 2024-25 College Basketball Other Games Thread

Well, yes, but he’s probably 3rd in the line of stepper-uppers for that team after Tonje and Blackwell. But it’s no surprise - Wisconsin’s MO.
If you have seen Wisconsin at all this year you know they have upgraded substantially in the athletic ability department and have multiple guys who can aggressively take it to the basket. It charges their game.

With respect to this weekend, I'm not sure what was more surprising:

The Badgers putting up 90+ including at Purdue in both of their 2 wins or the Gophers winning twice in LA. That would have been a heck of a parlay.

They are far removed from Bennett Ball, having already had some impressive scoring nights, but still going back-to-back over 90 is something I wouldn't have imagined. Pretty opposite of their current football team's offensive efficiency.
The Dairy Raid was a failed experiment

That's why I really can't see a win against Wisconsin no matter how hard I try. First you start with their two big men, especially Crowl. Crowl has been such a difficult matchup for us that he seems to throw us into a panic. He doesn't even have to score to be very dangerous. He's also a good passer and while he's drawing a double team he's very good at seeing other teammates and dishing off to them for a score. Then, you have Tonje who is having an outstanding season and Blackwell who isn't all that far behind.

I didn't expect a win at UCLA but, once we played them and adjusted to their intense inside defense after halftime, they didn't seem like such a bad matchup for us. I just don't see a way to make Wisconsin an easier matchup. If Ben and the players figure a way, that will be their most impressive feat of the season.

Agreed on Wisconsin. While we aren't expecting a win, it would be the best one of the season. I feel we're a different team from when we first played them. It'll be a better game

I definitely believe we are a better team than when we first played them but they're probably better too. I agree that beating them would be signature win of the season, probably the signature win of Ben Johnson's career. Mostly we've been blown out by the conference's very best teams but if we can make this one at least close that would help us in the rankings.

They’re doing this with basically only one player who wasn’t on the team last year, Tonje, and he plugged in for a similarly attacking player (Storr). They also lost big contributors in Hepburn and Wahl. It’s not an upgrade in personnel so much as it is a change in style.

Actually moved to Lakeville myself but happy to be in Farmington school district.

Yeah, I don't really have anything against Lakeville but I thought that was a funny quote and that's why I remember it. I still don't know whether a "Todd" stands for a male Karen or the type of guy who marries a Karen. I hadn't heard that term before reading that.

I didn't go to school in Minnesota and my son didn't go to primary or secondary school here so it was only recently while looking at areas for possible moves to the metro that I started looking at school districts. Bewildering to say the least! Like Plymouth having no school district but having two high schools that are part of two different districts or Robbinsdale having a school district with two high schools but neither of them is located in Robbinsdale. And why would they name a school district after a town as small as Osseo?

Being in the rotation of a senior-laden fringe top ten team as a redshirt PWO freshman is actually pretty impressive. Janicki could end up being a pretty good piece for them moving forward as their seniors depart. Wisconsin really has a way of fitting their pieces together so that every player is contributing even if they're not a star individually.
Good luck to them finding another Tonje in the portal....he might be B10 player of the year.

Anyone notice the MSU vs MI game's announcers are not plugged in?
It was glorious.

Being able to only hear the crowd and arena announcer was awesome.

There were a good number of commercials that played only the background music, and any speaking parts were muted. And some were normal.

Hopefully Oregon can complete the comeback against Wisconsin in Madison. 66-63 with 27 seconds left

St Johns and UConn playing a good one. Great to watch coaches who can coach rebounding, play an exciting brand of basketball, sub properly, have a coehisve game plan, and adjust on the fly. The same could be said watching the St Mary's and Zags game last night.
