All Things 2023 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Injury/Rehab update -

Per The Athletic, Cotters said he heard a pop and his heel was very painful; from the tone of the piece it sounds like he’ll be shut down for the immediate future and play it day by day.

Rehab update via the MLB App for Gordo and Brockstar -

Gordon and Stewart both began rehab assignments with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday evening. Gordon started at second base and went 0-for-3 before being taken out in the bottom of the sixth inning. Gordon hasn’t played since fracturing his right tibia in May, so he’ll stay with the Triple-A club until the end of their season, head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta said.

Stewart pitched in the fourth inning for St. Paul and threw a 12-pitch scoreless inning. The right-hander struck out two batters and topped out at 97.5 mph on his fastball. He’ll pitch once more next week before the Twins decide his next steps. He landed on the injured list on June 27 with right elbow soreness, but a return is near.

So if Lopez is to start game 1 and they continue with the 6 man rotation, they’d have to do 2 additional bullpen games.
Well they’re not going with the 6 man rotation so this isn’t accurate. If they go with exactly 4 days rest the rest of the way Lopez lines up for Game 1.

REV. DR. MELVIN MILLER
Tonya Puckett-Miller

Tonya Puckett-Miller,cq/ec the ex-wife of former Minnesota Twins superstar Kirby Puckett, has died at age 58 from brain cancer at her home in Mendota Heights.

She was diagnosed with glioblastoma in January 2022 and died Friday, said her husband, the Rev. Melvin Miller of St. Paul's Progressive Baptist Church.

"She was an amazing mother, an amazing community leader," Miller said. "She was very committed to her faith in Jesus Christ and the work of the church."

Tonya Hudson was born May 12, 1965, in St. Paul to Margaret Hudson of Edina, who also survives her. Puckett-Miller grew up in north Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park. She and Puckett married in 1986 and divorced in 2002 amid his legal troubles.

After the divorce, Puckett-Miller focused on philanthropy, helping raise millions for organizations such as Children's HeartLink and the Puckett Scholars program, which provides scholarship money for students of color attending the University of Minnesota. She cared for distressed children in her home through a Christian organization called Safe Families.

She also became involved in Bible study fellowship where one of the leaders told her they'd been praying for God to find her a mate. According to Miller, his late wife told the mutual friend, "I'm totally uninterested. The only way I'd marry someone is if he came knocking on my door."
Miller arrived in just such as fashion, coming into Puckett-Miller's life when a mutual friend asked whether he'd help out Kirby Jr., then a student at Augsburg University, with math. "I said, 'Sure, I'll go help him,' and I came walking up to her door," he said. "She was an amazing, amazing woman." Miller taught high school math before moving into the ministry.

Puckett-Miller married Miller in 2013 and together they have seven children, including two from her marriage to Puckett, Catherine and Kirby Jr., both of Minneapolis, and one son together, 14-year-old Tyson Miller.

She is also survived by her stepchildren Martin Miller, Mariah Miller, Mikal Miller and Morgan Carrillo; her grandchildren Brendan Draper, Nairobi Nelson, Bailey O'Brien, Savannah Puckett and Kirby Puckett III; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eunice and Earl Miller.
Kirby Puckett died March 6, 2006, in Phoenix, after a massive stroke.
A celebration of life is planned at Progressive Baptist Church, 1505 Burns Ave. in St. Paul, at noon Thursday with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.

Schwaber hit a 483 dong last night (his third 480 footer - not sure if it’s this season or in his career). That was also his 99 RBI while batting under .200.

If he continues on this trajectory, he’ll be the first MLB player with 45+ dingers, 100 Ribeyes while batting below the Mendoza Line - some where Joey Gallo is shaking his fist.

Man that sucks. First you get shipped off to Cleveland for 18 days because they had a 5% chance of making the playoffs. Now you’re going to the marlins and can’t even be on their postseason roster. This is terrible from a mental health and family love perspective and is also a terrible like for Cleveland to just get rid of him to save some money. My guess is this is fixed for next year.

He has 45 HR and 45 singles.

Royce leaves the game with what looks like a bad leg injury. Dammit!

Potentially devastating injury. Hard to be surprised, over the years injuries seem to follow twins like bees to honey. Ugh.

Just watched when Lewis was taken out. It kinda looked like he was mad about getting taken out. Hopefully just precautionary.

The committee was preoccupied during the game. It appears he saved 4 runs and drove in 2 runs. Stay hot kid.
Welp, my patience as the El Presidente of the WILLI THE WEAPON chapter for NYC has reached its nadir.

If a clear, heartfelt apologetic statement isn’t posted in this thread by 12:00 AM Saturday, September 23, I will have no rejoinder, but to escalate this matter to the courts, The People’s Court to be exact. It won’t be Brock Purdy and you may well lose what shred of dignity you and your BS committee still have.
