All Things 2023-2024 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

It might just be me, but doesn't it seem like we are just horrendous out of the gate. The first 6-8 minutes are literally painful almost every single game.
It's a flip of last year, when they came out hot, took a big lead to half, and were generally putrid in the 3rd quarter.

Will Jimmy have some general soreness on Monday night?

The wolves are 2-1 in the "Not So Sweet Sixteen."

The wolves are so good that Josh Minott, the player whom I consider to be a Naz Reid equivalent in terms of potential skills, impact and career arc, can't get near the court.

It's the kind of thing that shouldn't really affect anything on court, but this is Minnesota, so I'm sure that it will.

I mean it reflects bad on his character (not a pro choice/pro life thing just his attitude) but I don't think he can get into any trouble for this even from the league. What basis would they have to take action against some text messages?

He's a twenty two year old male with too much free time, great fame, absurd athletic prowess, ten generations of wealth with a whole lot more on the way and no parental involvement since he was fourteen or fifteen. This is not surprising.

I don't want to know about the private lives of any of these guys.

That info also came out the beginning of the month. Apparently Paige didn't get the response and uproar she was hoping for. She ended the discussion with the message from Edwards saying he was gonna let his attorney handle things from then on. Paige also showed that she got $100,000 from Edwards.

Since this is coming out again, guessing that Paige isn't happy with the $100,000. Maybe she wanted lifetime money?

I think this is coming out again because Edwards' girlfriend did some sort of baby announcement thing. The model is ticked off because he suggested/made her get an abortion because he didn't want kids, and now has one on the way.

Lesson number 1. Don't put things in writing that you don't want others to see.

Lesson number 2. Meet in person or on the phone. To prevent issues with recording, you put people on speaker with your team (laywer, pr, etc.) next to you to keep you calm and on message. Alternatively, completely outsource these issues to your team.

Lesson number 3. Condoms are required for all groupies.

Wild T-Wolves game. Would be an excellent win if they hold on.

MIAMI – The Heat pride themselves on being the toughest NBA team, to the point that the words "Heat Culture" are stamped across center court and their jerseys for Monday's game.

They have the deep playoff runs the last few seasons to back up those words. The Timberwolves are trying to reach that level in the league, and Monday marked a chance to prove to one of the league's elite in their building that they can hang with them when they are near full strength.

The teams traded punches for most of the quarter, with the Wolves coming out on top 112-108.

The Wolves overcame an early 17-point hole to make it game again with their suffocating defense in the second half. After Mike Conley gave the Wolves their first lead of the night 87-84, the Wolves maintained a small lead as the teams traded buckets down the stretch.

An Anthony Edwards fadeaway jumper off the glass gave the Wolves a 109-106 lead with 25.6 seconds remaining. Jimmy Butler, who missed the team's previous game in Minnesota, missed a three with 21.4 seconds remaining as Rudy Gobert grabbed the rebound and sank one of two free throws for a four-point Wolves edge.

Following a Bam Adebayo bucket, Nickeil Alexander-Walker sank two free throws with 4.7 seconds remaining to ice the game.

It capped an exhilarating back-and-forth of a playoff-like game that proved the 20-5 Wolves deserve the praise they have been getting for being one of the league's best..

MIAMI -- — Anthony Edwards scored 32 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 18 and the Minnesota Timberwolves clamped down in the second half to beat the Miami Heat 112-108 on Monday night.

Naz Reid scored 15, Mike Conley added 12 and Rudy Gobert grabbed 16 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

Minnesota improved to 20-5, tying idle Boston for the NBA’s best record. The Timberwolves gave up just 42 points in the second half, after trailing by as many as 17 points in the early going.

Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo returned from long injury absences and combined for 47 points for the Heat; Herro scored 25, Adebayo had 22. Jimmy Butler scored 15, Duncan Robinson 14 and Josh Richardson 13 for the Heat.

Herro returned after missing 18 games with a badly sprained right ankle. Adebayo was out for Miami’s most recent seven games with a bruised left hip.

It was Minnesota's league-leading seventh win after trailing by at least 10 points. It was also Miami's seventh loss after leading by double figures, four of those defeats coming at home.

The 20-5 start is Minnesota’s best through 25 games in franchise history; the 2001-02 Timberwolves started 17-8. Most Minnesota seasons – 21 of the previous 34 in franchise history – saw the team under the .500 mark at this point.
.

Minnesota led for 20 seconds in the game's first 39 minutes — and that lead was only 4-2. Conley's 3-pointer with 8:37 remaining ended what essentially was three straight quarters of Minnesota trudging uphill, putting the Wolves up 87-84.

on Edwards - this is not the first time that he has gotten himself in trouble.

remember the situation where he appeared to be making derogatory comments about gay people. he came out and apologized.

now he has text messages indicating he was offering to pay a girl to have an abortion. putting politics aside - it's just not a good look.

Edwards is an extremely gifted athlete. he is also a young guy with a lot of money who is showing a habit of talking or texting first and thinking about the consequences later. someone - his agent, manager, a teammate - someone has to sit this kid down and teach him the facts of life.

Don’t put derogatory comments in a text message or a voicemail.

All good points. Maybe that "somebody" needs to chat with Glen Taylor (father of a child out of wedlock) and members of congress who claim to be so virtuous until they are desperate for unintended consequences to go away in the form of an abortion.

Ant's issue happens all the time across public life. It just gets exposed more frequently because of social media.

Parking Lot is right. In these situations electronic trails are time bombs.

The team, the league, his agent/coaches, must have already spoken to the players about these kind of issues. I really hope that Ant figures it out, before he gets in bigger trouble.

Without sparking a political debate what can he really do differently? This isn't something he posted publicly...she did. He comes off as being a complete D bag in the way he's talking to her but how do you get in trouble for just being a D Bag? People all across sports, Hollywood, Music, etc. are complete A holes. He's not breaking any rules here.
