Sending Varland down makes total sense. He does not have to stay down there for the minimum 15 days because he was only added for the doubleheader. He could easily come back up for his next start (hopefully).

Be interesting to see if they bring him up before the double header against Cleveland on Saturday the 17.

As opposed to having the roster spot empty? That's what I'm saying. They didn't really have another option. Having 13 pitchers is still better than 12. He didn't hurt the team in any way as they were going to lose that game yesterday even if he pitched a perfect inning.

But he didn’t add anytime to the roster that’s my problem. Its an overarching problem with the pitching rotation and bullpen that to many guys are just warm bodies and add nothing to the rotation or the bullpen. Aaron Sanchez is just a warm body he doesn’t add anything to the team other than he might go 4 innings allows g 6 hits and 3 runs every 5 days. That’s just a warm body they need more than that.

Twins' record against the Dodgers, Astros and Yankees: 1-15

Twins' record against everyone else 67-52

so against everyone else, the Twins play .563 ball, which is a 91-win pace.
against the Dodgers, Stros and Yankees, you can do the math.

in short, the Twins are better than the bad teams. they're not better than the good teams.
 






The Twins and MLB in general have to have the highest % of injured players in any ,pro sport. My guess is that close to 40-45% of the original 40 man Spring roster has been/or is on the DL. Does anyone have the facts to support this.

I have to ask with at bats not really mattering any more why not bring in Leon to catch the 8th and the 9th as opposed to leaving the boxer Gary back there?
