All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

Hey, gopherbadgerman... a question for you:

You stated that Brosmer was already good when he got here. Just how good was he?

Was he, say, oh, I don't know... in the Top Third of the B1G when he got here?
Borderline. Which is what he was at the end of the year.

Do you think he was good when he got here?

I gave fleck credit but call a spade a spade, he was a one year player who was good and well developed when he got here, and got better as the year went on.

He was not an elite B10 QB IMO. He was good but not elite. Could not throw a deep ball at all. Maybe it was the WRs? I’m not sure I’m not a pro scout. He certainly looks better now than when he was here. Don’t really know what bone you are trying to pick…

I thought he’d be a middle 1/3 QB. He was slightly better than that.

Opposite actually. Wentz is a one year stop gap backup. Assuming Max continues to progress, he's the long term #2/developmental QB. They couldn't roll with JJM and Max. They need someone with experience to jump in short term if needed.

Max shouldn't be #2 currently with zero NFL experience. But these moves speak a lot to how the staff views him.
Hey Max,
Just FYI. Being a long-term backup QB is the best position in all of NFL - you get the money, get the fun, don't get hurt, and may (like me) get a ring, all for watching the games from the best seat in the house. If they do put you in, go for a quick "turf toe" injury so you can get back on the sideline where it's safe.
Sincerely,
Travaris Jackson

I am starting to wonder how many people remember last years offensive line. While Ertsery was great, the rest of the OL struggled. Plus, the WR's did not create a ton of separation. If Brosmer was not on the team, we would have been lucky to have won 6 games. He consistently hit WR's where only they could catch the ball and made the right play calls quickly. What we are seeing now is simply a progression from what he was. Brosmer was a top 3 B1G QB on a bottom 6 B1G offense.

He was not a top 3 big ten QB by any metric. He was top 6-8 sure but not top 3.

He made the gophers better for sure, but please tell me how he was a top 3 QB. Maybe you know something no one else does?

Not saying you are wrong, but which QBs were for sure better?

I agree .... although ... man I hope he held onto that money.

Wouldn't be the first guy to blow it.
Wentz was a HS Valedictorian, an Academic All-American, and got his degree with a 4.0. It doesn't guarantee he's good with money...but he's not exactly Adrian Peterson.

The Vikings might have the smartest QB room in the NFL.

Yep. Hate to say it but our line was soft and inconsistent and we had one guy on the outside who could create any real separation. Max with real NFL talent around him could be scary!
