A challenge to the Kill haters

Laugh about Jerry Kill's looks or his orthodontics. And, you'll have a field day when you hear him speak if you're not used to a good southern accent.

But, look at his resume closely. Look at what's happened everywhere he's been. He's taken programs down in the dumps and made them winners (the third year his usually the breakout season). And, he still has devoted followings at all of his former schools.

If you can look past the petty and forget about all of the guys you wanted to hire (Leach, Hoke, etc.) you'll see Minnesota hired a pretty damn good football coach today.

Let me know when you find the negatives. There's only one - Jerry Kill isn't a sexy hire.

But, he will be successful.

I so love to be right.

Uh, not completely, Kill was born, raised and schooled in Kansas. That is not a Southern state.

I didn't say he was from a southern state. I said he had a southern accent. Nice try. ;)

No, he doesn't, but please, that shouldn't stop your self-congratulations. You're just died wrong on that.

I am getting a kick out of pretty much being Nostradamus on how Kill would improve this program but getting jabbed at for supposedly not getting his accent right.

Kill's resume with smaller schools is just as impressive as Jim Wacker's was.

Both moved their way up with successes at non-D1 schools and then had 1-2 decent years at a fledgling D1 school before making the big leap to Minnesota.

Therein lies the problem.

Still think it's a problem today?

You can count me in the group that was a Kill non-believer, but I have come around to your way of thinking. The amount of improvement that I have seen on the field is beyond words. I had previously thought that the entire staff was in over their heads, but I was flat-out wrong with that assessment. I had previously mocked Kill supporters who constantly preached about how they were doing it the "right" way and wondered why we couldn't have both a program that did it the "right" way AND have success on the football field. They have shown that we can have both. It also makes me optimistic of our future with this staff and this roster. It's my hope that more of my former kind come around to your way of thinking!

Yeah, you probably shouldn't use Nostradamus as your comparison.

Enough with patting youself on the back. Once was fine. Continuing to tell the world you were right is obnoxious...

There must be a huge mistake with the cloud or something. I can't find my post in this thread, or was it... nah. ... I'm not Lacasanostra! No wonders I never posted 3 years ago. Hindsight! 20/20 baby!

Of course it is.

It's almost as ridiculous as the way the hiring of Kill was greeted by many on this board.
