3rd Recruit?

Okay, hasn't everybody in the top 40 already signed? And they can't UNSIGN their LOI, right? I don't see any way this could possibly be true.

No, there are still a couple top 20 rated players still unsigned. There also may or may not be some top players who've verballed, but have yet to sign an LOI. I suspect this news is a mix-up though & the rumored player is in fact Juco PG Chris Colvin, who was a top-10 PG before going Juco. Who knows, but it makes for good discussion.

I heard that Tubby convinced all the players who committed to St. John's to walk-on for the Gophers.

Hahaha. And Steve Lavin and Gene Keady are coming as volunteer assistants.

The "rumor" doesn't specify WHEN the player was top 10. So very well could be Colvin. Who IMO would be a great get. I could see him doing very well here.

A point guard named Nash? Bring him on, man!

Competition for Colvin and Nash is heating up big time. Illinois is making a huge push at Colvin right now and a lot of the fan base is hoping that they land him for next years class. Also, North Carolina is looking at bringing in Nash. So it will be interesting.

Edit: Notice North Carolina has interest in Colvin now too.

So this "third recruit" is nothing but speculation at this point?

here is the first post in that thread, after that its all guessing on hs and juco kids

Because message boards are loaded with them...here is what I heard this weekend:

Tubby has a 3rd recruit locked up. The player has been ranked in and around the top 10 nationally.

This recruit will give us a top 10 class...possibly the best in the B10.

My source said that Tubby doesn't like to announce kids prior to NSD for fear of other's poaching attempts.

My source is very well connected: he coaches at the highest level of AAU ball.

Who know if this has any truth, but it makes the recruiting trail a little more interesting heading into the Spring signing day.

Sounds like the coach he's referring to is Dinos Trigonis, the coach of Belmont Shore who had DeAndre Daniels, who has been in and around the top 10 nationally on Rivals. I have a hard time believing that though because I've never heard his name mentioned in the same sentence as the Gophers and rumors have had it that he's a done deal to Kansas. In fact Kansas students have claimed his name is on the email list for the school. Not sure if that last part is true, but I'm not going to get too excited yet. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Adonis would be a great prospect, but not a realistic one. There is a kid in our back yard that is a great athlete and defender which gophers need. His name is Roosevelt Scott from out of Johnson High School. The kid locked up best point guards in the country last summer! He is 6'4" and moves amazingly graceful. Check his reel at www.myrecruitez.com .

Adonis isn't even worth mentioning. I would love to have him, but he's signed with Memphis.

The Rivals rumor starter guy isn't that butthead from Columbia Heights is he?

My guess on the 3rd recruit is USAFChef. Rumor has it he borrowed Devoe's 6-foot magic water bong to transform himself back in time as a collegiate PG determined to force Tubby out of the coaching ranks once and for all. "Viva la Rasta" will replace the Rouser if USAFChef's evil plot succeeds...

Does anyone know if Wally Judge has decided on a college? This is the only "top 10" guy that I could see slip under the radar.

Where have I heard that name before ...

Blake Nash is at Williston State (N.D.) College and will transfer with three seasons to play three in Division I. At an all-star camp in Phoenix last July for more than 100 juco players and unsigned high school seniors, Nash shared the title of "best NBA prospect.''

A point guard named Nash? Might be worth checking him out.

While I have no idea what they are actually doing, I would be shocked if the 3rd recruit wasn't a PG. Looking at the makeup of roster next season, that is the one glaring weakness. Mav is clearly not ready to be a starting Big Ten PG, and Andre Hollins will be a freshman who hasn't even spent much time playing PG to this point.

I would also think this would be an attractive spot for a PG recruit. We'll be relatively strong everywhere else and have considerable playing time to offer. I wouldn't think Nash or Colvin would be out of the question.

anyone know what the deal in with Roosevelt Scott? I watched him play a few times last summer and seemed to be a lock down defender when needed, played the point once in a while but looked more comfortable running on the wing and dunking, could knock down some jumpers but hasn't signed anywhere yet...

I am not saying he is Big Ten ready or making any claim about what level he should be playing at, but he looks like he should be playing somewhere.

Roosevelt Scott

Roosevelt Scott is expected to have to go the JC or prep school route.
