I think it's a moot point. His chances of being approved by the MLB owners would be in the "zero point zero" range.
 






If your team's payroll is literally three (3) times more than your competition, is it really an accomplishment?

ESPU will be ecstatic, though.
The Yankees haven't accomplished going to the World Series since 2009, so being one step closer with advancing to the ALCS is some sort of achievement.

It's not jealousy to prefer a level playing field for all those participating.
I'm not going to argue that it's level, but as mentioned the Yankees have not been to the World Series since 2009, so if were just as easy as simply outspending the competition, they would not go a decade and a half without a Pennant. They are not there yet.

The Mets actually cut their payroll down to $317M in 2024 from $342M last year and have had better success with trying to end their Championship drought since 1986.
