At ESPN, Mark Schlabach has Minnesota in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl Vs. UCF.

Action Network has the Gophers in the Boca Raton Bowl Vs. Georgia Southern

Boca Raton Bowl would be a cool destination, but things would have to be worse case scenario for this to happen I imagine.

I remember two years ago, seeing Pinstripe Bowl projections all season long and being offended by that. And last year seeing some Detroit Bowl projections and REALLY being offended by that. I guess I have learned my lesson. I shouldn't be shooting the messengers.

It's a game that usually has two G5 schools. It's just slightly better than the Bahamas Bowl in terms of matchups!

South Carolina or Florida sound like better bowl destinations compared to Detroit or another trip to Phoenix to play on slip-and-slide field at a baseball stadium.

Early indications are that Memphis could be a pretty good team again. They were 10-3 last season. That actually might be a pretty decent bowl assignment.

Minnesota is back in bowl projections after the USC win:

• ESPN’s Mark Schlabach has Minnesota playing UCF in the First Responders Bowl
• 247 Sports is projecting Minnesota to play in the Military Bowl Vs. Navy
• Action Network places Minnesota in the First Responders Bowl against Arizona State
• College Football News predicts Minnesota will play OK St in the First Responders Bowl
• Saturday Tradition is predicting Minnesota to play Eastern Michigan in the Detroit Bowl

Per Sagarin, 4 of the last 6 Gopher opponents are bunched up together in the ratings. To make a decent bowl, the Gophs need to beat UCLA and make some hay against these matchup opponents. UCLA has one of the hardest schedules in the country so far, so they might be underrated. This is the part of the season last year where the Gophers fell apart. Here's hoping that major injuries, etc. (an et cetera being Rossi shopping other jobs and allowing the defense to crater) don't crop up.
