2024-25 Wild Season

Well this just sucks

Minnesota Wild superstar Kirill Kaprizov will miss a minimum of four weeks after undergoing surgery on a lower-body injury, general manager Bill Guerin announced Tuesday
Damnit. I was busy most of the afternoon and evening and caught 5 minutes of Bareemo without Guerin on yet. One texter speculated it might be a hernia. Then they started talking about scrotums and testicles. Then I arrived at my destination. Any further clues on what the surgery was? Let me guess: lower body surgery?

Nothing yet. He hasn't had the surgery yet. He will have it later this week.

My guess is a sports hernia

Can we play all of our games on the road. 3-0 over Montreal in the 3rd.

The young, backup Montreal goalie has not been good. Not good at all. Ouch!!!

First goaltender to have a shutout as a teenager and as a 40 year old

Wow. This is quite a jump, and awesome to see. I heard rumblings it was going to go up a fair amount in the next year or two but this is fantastic.

This is also going to give a major advantage to teams that know their shit when it comes to managing the cap and managing their roster. Yes, I have to say this applies to teams like VGK who have been exceptional at managing the cap since their inaugural season.

NHL Salary Cap To Jump From $88M to $113M Over Next 3 Seasons

They put him on waivers and I wouldn't blink

Ryan Hartman suspended 10 games.

Not enough. He could've fractured that guys eye socket or jaw. That shit was dirtier than trying to slue foot someone going into the boards.

Totally agree Slim. Then he smiled about it and shrugged his shoulder while heading down to the locker room. He brings nothing to the game except stupid shit like this

Stupid question here. We don't get any salary cap relief due to dipshit being suspended, do we? I assume that $487K is money in the Wild ownership pockets, isn't it?

I believe that all suspension salary is donated to NHL charities but I could be wrong.

When an NHL player is suspended by the league, they forfeit their salary for the duration of the suspension, based on the number of games missed. Here’s how it works:

1. Regular Season Suspension

  • The player loses salary based on the number of games suspended.
  • The amount forfeited is calculated on a per-day basis(not per game).
    • For players on a standard contract: Salary is divided by the number of days in the season (typically 185 days).
    • For players on a one-year contract signed after the season starts: Salary is divided by the number of games (82 games).

2. Preseason Suspensions

  • No salary is lost since players are not paid for preseason games.

3. Playoff Suspensions

  • No salary is lost since players do not receive their regular salary during the playoffs.
  • However, they could lose playoff bonuses.

4. Salary Cap Impact

  • The forfeited salary is donated to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund (not returned to the team).
  • The suspension does not give the team any salary cap relief.

Thanks for looking that up. I consider myself a charitable guy but the PEAF seems like a great place to put those funds.

Now can we find a sucker to take Hartman's contract? I didn't care for the Foligno extension, either, but at least he brings real leadership to the team.

The (bigger?) problem is that Hartman would have to approve the trade for 15 teams next year and 10 the following. It's not clear from the above if we could trade him this year, unrestricted.

He needs to change his ways if he wants to stick around. I mean he did have a 30 goal season but that sure seems like a fluke. He hasn't come close to that since. Maybe this wakes him up. Time will tell

After undergoing surgery to repair a lower-body injury on Friday, the Minnesota Wild placed star winger Kirill Kaprizov on long-term injured reserve on Sunday.

That means Kaprizov has to miss at least 10 games, putting his earliest possible return date at March 2 when the Wild host the Boston Bruins. The move to long-term IR is retroactive to Jan. 26, so he's already missed three of the minimum 10 games.
