My guess is that Ramberg ends up with a scholly and he might be as good of a practice player as you are going to find. He can't shoot (as far as I know) but he works as hard as anyone and that is a great asset in a team perspective.

I'd say Ramburg is a lock for a scholarship and Purcell is 50/50 at this point.

He was about 65% last year on very selective shots.

To me- this is a good sign. The guy would be so obvious to contact for a team like us in need of guards. But we are passing. That tells me that they are sticking to pursuing guys that they think fit. Pitino got in trouble going after guys that had some ability but didn't fit- like Squirrel Morris, just to name one.
 






The Gophers have three open scholarships, not counting Ramberg. How many additional external players will the Gophers sign? I'd put the odds at:

0-5%

1-50%

2-35%

3-10%

Don’t forget about the 11pt 5 TO 0 assist game the second time around.. Can’t shoot.. good at bullying Summit guards.. The best D-1 team in Minnesota would have no interest… can’t wait to settle the score this year when the Gophers and UST play… Oh wait. 🍭
 

How the hell did we let a guy named RAYQUANDIS get out of the state! Minnesota isn’t even listed on the schools contacting him! This guy has All-Time Gopher All-Name Team written all over him!

Seriously, I hope they are all over Nate Calmese to come in and compete with Mitchell for starting PG.

There also has to be a SF out there who wants to play in the B1G. Go get them.

I'm not sure you would have an answer for Payne. And no Rohde. But it's anyone's league this year in the Summit now that all the best players left.

If Nelson leaves NDSU (and maybe even if he doesn't) I'd probably have SDSU as the preseason favorite in the Summit. Mayo, Kyle, Easley, Mims,and Mors a nice core. Losing Rohde a big hit for the Tommies, for sure, but they still have top 2-3 talent coming back, even more so if Parker Bjorklund decides to come back for one last go-round.

North Dakota a good candidate for a SL sleeper. Eaglestaff, Omot, Norman, and now Eli King can all play. I was really impressed with Eaglestaff at the SL tourney. He could be another guy who'll hit the free agency market in a year or two.
