2023-2024 College Basketball Other Games Thread

Crazy! Temple up 1 with 8 seconds left, misses 2 free throws, and FAU turns it over trying to get the win. Temple advances, someone's bubble bursts.
Really a terrible outcome as there has been been in a while for solid bubble teams. UAB does have some talent so if they get through it’s a quality second team, but FAU def getting in from that conference then you have the tourney champ.

This is a major hit to Indiana State and similar, which is too bad…..

So instead of computers you're going to let other humans decide who you think is good? Makes sense.
Absolutely. Humans selecting the teams wasn't perfect...but I never complained about it. The worst was usually a 1-place leapfrog on occasion.

But this computer stuff is completely nonsensical. All common sense, all analytical thought, is out the window.

Bring back the BCS
Seriously...no one in their right mind actually thinks that computers can rank all the basketball teams better than humans...right?

Although...people have ALWAYS believed anything
that an 'official' person in a suit-&-tie tells them. It's human nature.

Reported that Dan Monson and LBSU were "mutually" deciding to move on (fired) after the season.....and then they go out and win the Big West Tournament Championship and make the tournament. lol.

I asked you who you thought was good. Your response was whoever the AP thinks is good. Do you not understand what you're doing? You've been preaching people to use their own brains, but can't even do it yourself?

Two former fired Gopher coaches going to the dance.....SMH
Posted by Gopher Jim on another board!

Unreal to watch so many important games happen across the country that involved former Minnesota high school players, former players & coaches and desired coaches of this fanbase. Then for most of it to happen in Minneapolis is the pièce de résistance.

-Dain Dainja domination vs Ohio State

-Jameson Battle playing great back home

-Wisconsin going to the BT Conference Tournament with Crowl and Wahl

-Richard Pitino winning the Mountain West Tournament with New Mexico and Jamal Mashburn Jr against Brian Dutcher

Then the final one of the night Dan Monson goes dancing in his final year at Long Beach State.

I’m probably missing some, but almost everyone of importance that either left the U or was fired from the U or we wanted at the U has had success this weekend and are dancing while we sit home.

Unreal

So how many bid stealers have we had now?

Believe it's 4:

NC State
Oregon
AAC Winner
A10 Winner

Maybe New Mexico was, if you would have considered them out before the MWC Tournament. Probably good they won today, or they might not have gotten in though.

Heard about this this morning. Bush league for GCU to show them up but way uncalled for to take a swipe at the guy as well.
#4 for UTA might have a career in the National Dodgeball League when his basketball days are over

Would've like to see Nebraska advance, but Illinois impresses with their mental toughness, putting their heads down and coming from behind in two straight games. That might bode well for them in the NCAAs.

And Terrance Shannon Jr. is such a great feel-good, comeback story everyone can get behind.

No one should be a slave to a computer index but computer indexes are better than humans for:

1) arranging general rankings among a very large group of objects around objective criteria;

2) being able to provide general consensus.

As long as the criteria on those indexes are transparent, understandable, and consistent people can adjust to them.
