2023-2024 College Basketball Other Games Thread

So, looking at the McNeese State schedule, on Dec 5th they played the Mississippi University for Women and scored a 92-23 victory. Just about matched that with the 87 they put on Michigan.

Wait, you weren't joking. This is a real men's college?

Go Mississippi University for Women!!

Some additional digging on Wiki...20/80 male-to-female ratio? It would be like shooting fish in a barrel...

Mississippi University for Women (MUW or "The W") is a coeducational public university in Columbus, Mississippi. It was formerly named the Industrial Institute and College for the Education of White Girls[2] and later the Mississippi State College for Women. Men have been admitted to MUW since 1982 and today make up about 20 percent of the student body.[3] As a public liberal arts college, MUW is one of just 30 universities in the United States and Canada to be selected for membership in the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges.

Go Gophers!!

Fucking Gabe Madsen from fucking Mayo is a secret fucking weapon.

When do those guys sleep!?

Brian Dutcher’s San Diego State team is pulling away from Gonzaga in Spokane.

Gonzaga loses to SDSU. WCC trending towards 1-bid league territory. Gonzaga has done nothing OOC(best wins are UCLA and USC), and St. Marys has taken on a bunch of losses already.

Mark Few and Eric Musselman could both use a change of scenery...

BIG teams in action today
Rutgers at home against Stonehill
Michigan State at home against Indiana State
Ohio State plays West Virginia in Cleveland

St. Thomas routs North Dakota 70-45 in Grand Forks. Tommies have won all 3 of their Summit League openers as a Division I program.

Perennial powers NDSU & ORU both lose their conference opener to expected bottom-feeders. The Summit League looks wide open, unlike last season when ORU ran roughshod over everyone.

Tommies NET ranking improves from #181 to #143. Early 1st-place battle at Schoenecker Arena at 2 p.m. New Year’s Eve vs. Kansas City. Former Gopher assistant coach Joe Esposito is now an assistant for the ‘Roos.

Creighton @ Marquette
Alabama @ Liberty (could be interesting)
Longwood 12-2 @ Dayton (Longwood racks up wins like they have a decent athletic budget and don't need the "buy" games)
Akron against St Bonaventure in Cleveland (Same venue as Ohio State/WV)
Cal State Northridge visits Monson's Long Beach squad. (Two teams with the best records in the Big West)
UNC Wilmington visit Arkansas. (Seahawks beat Kentucky on the road a few games ago)
Mississippi, Houston and James Madison all without an L
Houston is at home against Penn today (7 of 12 games Cougars have kept their opponent at 50 points or less)
James Madison at home against Texas State (Dukes might not lose for awhile)

Rutgers pulled it out but only by 1 point.

Stone hill is 358 at KenPom, would have been a crippling loss for the league. Either way, Rutgers is going to nose dive in the metrics.

As they should. They are bad on offense - 239th on t-rank before today's abomination gets added in (9th on defense, however).

FWIW, RU have the #2 and #3 HS recruits in the country coming next year, though. Yes, at Rutgers.

For sure. They were #79 before this game. Wouldn't surprise me if they dropped to #100 or so. Gophers most likely move ahead of them.

rutgers down to 92.

get by maryland at 73 and the gophers are no longer in weakling wednesday, virtually

gophers moving up slowly in kenpom as other b10 teams drop

I follow pretty closely and have never heard of Stonehill. D-II?

Indiana State putting a scare into Michigan State. Up 3 with 10 left in 2nd half... surprising to see Indiana State is 59th in kenpom

Are you saying that seems high or low? They're obviously a good team. Imagine if they had P6 talent.
