Wouldn't be surprised to see someone who wants Willis trade for the Vikings #32 pick so they can get that 5th year option.

I would hate to see the Vikings draft Willis, at least at #32. Holy shit. For comparisons, he wasn't rated much better than Kellen Mond, essentially a late 2nd, early 3rd rounder

But yeah. A dud of a first round for the Vikes.
 


This is an interesting bit on Cine. Who knows how good he will be, but his talent is certainly there. I thought they needed corners, this guy is a safety ..will they move him to corner?

Several names surface in conversations with teams about the second safety off the board behind Notre Dame's Kyle Hamilton. But no one comes up more often than Cine, who is 6-foot-2 1/4, 199 pounds -- and, as one GM put it, "can absolutely f---ing run." Cine blazed the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine, with a 36 1/2-inch vertical leap and an 11-foot-1 broad jump. He was highly productive for the Bulldogs, racking up 73 tackles and nine pass breakups on the way to third-team All-America honors and winning defensive MVP of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Teams say his personality isn't what you'd expect from such a physical player, but it's not seen as a problem, especially given how hard he plays. So, while some prefer Michigan's Dax Hill, Baylor's Jalen Pitre or Penn State's Jaquan Brisker, Cine has a lot of fans and his draft slot figures to reflect that.
 






Cine was an excellent choice.

Get D-line with the next pick.

That’s what they said when Belicheck drafted Logan Mankins from Fresno State in the first round and he ended up being a 7 time all-pro selection in addition to making the all decade team.

I’ll take his expertise over McFay and clown sitting next to him, who have one Super Bowl on their CV

Well The Athletic liked the Vikings' pick. Hopefully it works out that way
 



Just listened to Paul Allen on KFAN.

The Vikings won the trade and they drafted a future Superstar. Everything is wonderful!

Personally, I saw a video clip of Kwesi taken shortly after the pick. I'm sorry, but he had this look like "Golly, I'm an NFL GM and I just made a pick in the NFL Draft!"

He looked overwhelmed, like the moment was too big for him.

Also heard a longer press session held late last night. All about process, collaboration and culture.
Kwesi claims they had Cine rated "between 13 and 19" on their board. Other ranking sites had him as a mid-to-high 2nd round choice.

The Vikes had better ace all of their picks today (Friday) or Kwesi will have lost the fans before the start of the season.

I have zero information to back this up, but it seems much easier to find a serviceable safety in rounds 2/3 than CB. Much like interior offensive lineman, you can usually find pretty good value safeties and IOL in rounds 2/3. Unless they appear to be "game changing talents", I would avoid using a first rounder on IOL or S.

I would have preferred they not drop as far down in the first and picked up Jermaine Johnson or Karlaftis. Maybe McDuffie, but it did seem after Gardner and Stingley there wasn't really a CB worth a first rounder.

They are teetering between "win now" and "rebuild", and used a first round pick on a position that isn't a high need. I'm assuming the next pick has to be CB Booth or DE Ojabo? Would not be opposed to taking an IOL if there's a good one sitting there, or rolling the dice on Corral.
 



I do believe I done told y'all that pretty much none of the QBs were worth a 1st round pick this year. Not surprised to see just one go in the 1st, even in a draft as weak as this one. Maybe the Vikings get a sucker to move up to #34 to take one of the remaining QBs, who knows.

No problem at all with how things shook out for the Vikings. I saw more than one place having Cine has high as the teens (not just the Vikings saying so).

As far as the value they got in moving down, let's face it, you can argue the #12 pick is worth this much or that much but at the end of the day it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. The draft was weak at the top, especially after the top handful of picks. #12 this year was worth a lot less than it would be in other years, no question about it.

If there were lets say 4-5 of players they had rated in the teens, with Cine being one of them, and they traded back to #32 and still got one of those players, it's really hard to argue they got hosed.

Was going to bet under 2.5 QBs taken in the first round but my shitty book didn't have draft prop bets.....

Talking head this morning that he’s hearing Det and another team will be interested in trading up for Tampa ir Vikes pick at the top of the second FWIW

In theory with Hunter and Smith, they don't NEED a DE (or OLB in 3-4 speak) this year. Of course, they both have injury history themselves, so the likelihood of needing another body there this year is probably decent. With that said, IMO it's probably worth it to nab Ojabo and hope he comes back in 2023 healthy when you might not have Hunter. But I'd put all my money on them taking Booth.
