UST 82 UWGB 61
I have seen posts regarding other coaches in year 2 compared to the Gophers, so just for reference.... Will Ryan is in year 3 at UW Green Bay and the Tommies dominated them for all but about 6-8 minutes to start the 2nd half. I don't know what I expected from Bo Ryan's son but this definitely was not it.

Do some apples fall farther from the tree than others?

I wouldn’t be surprised, even though the Tommies aren’t eligible until 2026, and even though it’s a lot harder to make it from a 1-bid league.
I refuse to be defeatist on this. There’s a lot of time between now and 26. No guarantees but I would almost make a bet that Gophers are in sooner than St. Thomas is eligible.

This is desolation. Don’t make long term decisions or predictions in desolation.

Keep the faith.

Doesn't help when your best player transfers to Madison

Latest NET rankings:
St. Thomas (124)
Minnesota (244)

Latest KenPom rankings:
Minnesota (166)
St. Thomas (214)
Per Sagarin, the Gophers are about 5 points better than the Tommies, meaning the Gophs would be expected to be favored by a couple points on St. Thomas' home court. That's a 58 percent chance of victory, or a hair better than the Gophers' chances of making a free throw. That's a little too close for comfort.

The Gophers have a long ways to go to match UST stats. I know, I know, the competition levels are not the same. But they do make a statement.

UST allows 69PPg and scores 77. FG % is 48%, 3's at 40% and 78% FT. Compared to Gophers allow 69 and score 63 PPG,, FG% is 42%, 3's at 33% and 58% FT's.

While St. Thomas looks decent on paper, and we don't, if we actually played, we would absolutely bring it and not lose.

Probably right, I would hate to think we would lose to a school that was just in D3. Still wish the game was on the schedule. The exhibition against St. Olaf was fun and brought a lot of local energy to the barn. I am hopeful this game will make our non-con schedule in the very near future.
