2021 Other Bowl Games Thread

Sadly, that opening series was roll Tide. Hope the Bearcats can make some adjustments or they are in for a very long day.

I’ll say this . . . finally visited the SLC area this fall. Took the time to walk around UU campus. City and campus, both beautiful. Looking forward to going back to the area when the Gophers play BYU. I think in 2025.
We did as well. Utah is a gorgeous state. We drove through Provo - the BYU campus is beautiful as well.

Northwestern isn't a small school - they have 21,000 - about the same as Kansas State

I would guess that their graduate and professional school enrollments are pretty large. For undergraduates, they had about 8,500 for the 2018-19 school year, definitely smaller than your typical FBS state university.

Get used to their speed and settle in and get rid of the jitters. I hope/think this is competitive

If Alabama wins this review it is bullshit. Because if that’s a legal forward pass they had 5 linemen illegally downfield

Seriously awful if they give it to him. One of the linemen 5 yards down field was blocking. As were wideouts

it could be:
Offensive pass interference
Or
Illegal man down field

Wake is REALLY small. Under 6000 undergrads and 8100 total students, which makes it the smallest P5 school by enrollment and the sixth smallest FBS program as a whole. Third smallest if you don't count the three service academies.

Wow. I had no idea they were THAT small of a University.

Northwestern is unique in having over 13,000 postgraduate students. I'd say the vast majority of students that go to games are undergraduates. 8,000 is a pretty small undergraduate population.

I had no idea that postgrads outnumber undergrads. That is unusual.

I feel like Cincinnati is going to have to get a little more creative on offense. Bama is going to score points. Run, run, pass, punt isn't going to cut it.

Cinci really not pressing Alabama’s secondary, which is their weak point. Odd game planning thus far

But maybe it’ll keep them close. That’s the goal right???

Little surprised neither of these teams are trying to press the ball down the field. Making it easier on defenders when they've only gotta check a 15 yard deep box and most within 5-10 yards rather than guys moving vertically in addition to laterally

well on second thought, if Cinci is going to play 2 high safeties and 3 down guys, they're going to get fucking destroyed.

Both teams have offensive lines that are worse than the opposing front 7

not taking sacks is a pretty good strategy

Hard to win if you don’t keep it close

Not sure how anyone can criticize the cinci strategy right now.
Down 7 with the ball and getting the ball at half.

they aren’t going to win a wide open score a thon against Alabama. They want to play good defense, shorten the game, and make enough plays to win. Have to be close in the second half to have a chance.

get it to the 4th quarter then go win it.

I’m sure Fickle is okay with the score now

Ha ha Wide left

Excellent... The second half should be interesting. Cincinnati cannot move the ball, but (so far) their defense compares favorably to Georgia’s. Similar yards per carry, fewer yards per pass allowed. The flood gates might burst in second half but who knows.

Need to be within 7 at half
Get some first downs so you don’t have to play defense again.
They got too aggressive

They tried to throw the ball beyond 10 yards on first downs, got behind the chains, 3 and out

the people who think they’re playing not to lose need to realize they went 3 and out because they “played to win”

Ugh. That woulda been the break they needed.

18 on Cincy was mauled on that play where he flipped it to Robinson
