2020 Spring Practice Thread

For those who are able to make it to the Spring practices this year - have fun!

Anybody going to practice today?

Nick Kallerup. Redshirt freshman out of Wayzata.
Walk on?

"
Attended Wayzata High School • wore No. 88 for the Trojans • as a senior, made 34 receptions for 647 yards and scored seven touchdowns • named First Team USA Today All State, First Team All-Conference, First Team KARE 11 All-Metro and Star Tribune All-Metro first team • as a junior, started nine game at offensive tackle
"

Wonder what his story is ... perhaps only playing one year of TE wasn't enough to get an offer, but good enough as a developmental project to offer PWO?

First open practice is today, I’m expecting reports from those attending.

Yes, preferred walk on. Had offers from Sioux Falls and South Dakota. I'm sure was undersized (for P5) at OT as a junior and wasn't on many radars.

Well he was obviously athletic and could catch. Usually you see TE moving to OT, not the other way around.

He was a late PWO addition. He committed on January 22, 2019, and enrolled June 3, 2019.

I’m following along with a spring practice thread, elsewhere. So far, two different people have said Ky Thomas looks like the best RB in practice.

“....Ky Thomas looked like the best runningback today imo. The defense struggled to wrap him up all day and he’s only been D1 football for a couple of weeks....”

They are also saying the defense looks very good and fast, in particular the LBs and interior DL.

It may very difficult to red shirt him if he is that good.

Bryce fumbled twice in practice, and Wiley pulled a hamstring. If these other backs can’t hang on to the ball and stay healthy, he might see significant action this season. It’s crazy to think he’s basically a high school Senior still, and holding his own against grown men.

Mo is out of the country on a class trip.

Sam Jackson, who decomitted, has been to practice on back to back days with dad.

Do we sense a change of heart? He better act fast because the PJ train moves fast and on time. They are short a few tickets on the next scheduled trip.

I must hear about spiral quality!

Tanner was reportedly the most sharp, had the best footwork, more confident and vocal than last Spring, etc.

ZA rusty, having missed so much time. Missed some throws he should have made.

Clark - Strongest arm on the team. His reps were with 3rd string OL, no time to throw.

Kramer - Reps with 3rd string OL, no time to throw.

No word on spiral quality.

Pitinofan, was it ZA who threw the long TD pass CAB? One of the fastest paced practices I have ever been too. #88 is an absolute beast. Deven Eastern attended the practice.

According to Burns, that was Morgan.

“Throw of the day came from Morgan to Chris Autman-Bell on a skinny post way down the field. CAB beat Terell Smith, went up and made the play.”

Fleck runs fantastic practices. Always uptempo. Looks like controlled chaos but in reality it is tightly managed and run like clockwork.

Bummed I missed today (work trip) but will for sure be at the rest and do reports.

I saw two guys that looked like Seth Green’s brothers at practice yesterday.

We will need multiple backs, in our run heavy offense. That is just the way it is.

Mo Ibrahim will be a stud, but he is also a hard nosed runner, and he's human. He's going to have injuries at some point in the season.
