2020 Spring Practice Thread

I just listened to Dr. Michael Osterholm on the Joe Rogan show. (You Tube #1439 show) This is a serious problem that will only get worse and everyone needs to take precautions. It will be an issue going forward well past Spring. My guess is that Spring practice as well as all games will be cancelled in the next few days. Handwashing will do very little to prevent the virus as it is air borne, in other words its transmitted through the air that we breathe.
This is the factual information:

"
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

I think you need to read up on how it is transmitted and recommended precautions.

Please explain how the news media is causing a panic. Would you prefer not to receive information? Facts are important and help us make informed decisions on how to address this challenge.
You must have your head in the sand if you don't realize news has been politicized since before November 2016.

Two of my kids work in the medical profession and have had to work with patients who may have COVID 19.

The disease is spread by droplets from an infected person either coughing or sneezing and the droplets coming directly in contact with a person's mouth, nose or eye's. Specifically, the mucous membranes that connect to the lungs. To care for one suspected of having COVID you are to wear Goggles, an N95 mask, and gloves.

The virus also can be transmitted by the droplets landing on surfaces where they can live for up to 9 days in ideal situations (I.e. metal and plastic). If you touch these surfaces and then touch your eyes, mouth or nose you will contract the virus.

The virus takes 5 days to manifest symptoms in your body but you will be contagious in as little as 3 days with no symptoms.

So wash your hands for over 30 seconds all the time! Don't touch your face. Wash surfaces that may have been contaminated. Wear a mask if you have a cough to keep from spreading it.

A plain old mask won't prevent you from getting it if your wearing it. it must be an N95 mask or better.

Someone made a new thread showing that Penn St has cancelled spring football activities for the time being.

If a couple more big names fall in line, I can easily see the Big Ten and SEC all doing it and then everyone else after that.

I can't belive they did that!

We already have like 5 threads in the past 3 days, a man can't keep up!

People are panic buying. My daughter went Costco today. The lines are clear to the back of the store. She could not find toilet paper or bulk rice.

Definitely where I would go for top notch healthcare advice...

People really need to stop sneezing into other people’s mouths. That’s gross whether you have COVID-19 or not.

It was madness at my grocery store. Line so bad I left without buying. I never thought I would see empty shelves and bread lines in the USA, but I'm scared I might tomorrow when I go back on off hours.

Based on advice from an RN, these are important items to have on hand. Target was running low on these things when I was there this afternoon, but I was able to get them. They were completely out of toilet paper.

-expectorant
-cough suppressant
-acetaminophen
-ibuprofen

I don’t know where to put this, but I love going back and looking at these plays. I didn’t realize it until now, but MSM probably caused the interception by getting in Clifford’s face. He actually hit his hand as the ball was being released. Also, notice what he did to the running back who tried blocking him. Winfield might have made a play on the ball anyway, but Hamler would have left Williamson in the dust had that ball been thrown deep enough. Hamler slowed down, and and caused incidental contact, which is probably why PI wasn’t called on Williamson, who did a great job of turning his head around to look for the ball. Great job by the ref on that play too.

Considering that Rashad was an academic redshirt this past season, this definitely deserves a mention.

Bateman posted a bunch of practice clips of him destroying our own DB’s (including Coney Durr a couple times, yikes) on his Instagram story. I hope we get to watch him do that to other teams this Fall.
