NBA suspending the season until further notice. Utah Jazz player tests positive. OK, I’ll admit I took this too lightly. I didn’t expect it to escalate this quickly. Happy to admit I was wrong.

Took many people by surprise. China has only 1 death as they got right on it. We didn't here in the United States and we allowed a small candle to turn into a massive fire. Now we have to work harder to put the fire out.

According to this, China has over 3100 deaths. I think this chart is a day old.

There is no putting out the fire.


What maybe can be done is slow its spread over time to avoid a super high spike that overwhelms the system.


No idea what you mean by 1 death.....
 



This is not just about cancelling Spring Practice anymore. It is serious. It just got tougher for those who are battling health issues.

The US now have 1327 new cases, 38 deaths as of a few minutes ago.

Wash your hands several times a day with soap...soap and water not only kills the virus but washes it away.

...And don't touch your face if you are older.

Do the same if younger but your risk for serious illness is much less.
 





Whoa...my very bad. In the article that I was reading earlier today it was talking about China and at times mentioning Taiwan. The one death is in Taiwan not China as clearly pointed out in previous posts. After seeing those posts I went back and read the article and sure enough I didn't read it correctly.
 




Now that the US is testing extensively for COVID19 expect the numbers to balloon. This really shouldn't be a reason to panic but the news media will definitely make it out to be a reason to. More testing = more cases. Simple math.

How long before Spring Practice is cancelled? All it takes is one sick player and the whole team could contract the virus.

Hate to see any serious injuries. Was excited to see what Oliver did in the starting role this year. That said, at least there is some young, exciting depth behind him. Lots of good talk about James Gordon, Donald Willis and Josh Aune. Plus we just brought in a couple stud early enrollees in Qwon Burns and Cody Lindenberg. With many months to practice together, I'm confident Joe Rossi will have a good rotation ready.

This could not be further from the truth. China covered it up.

I wondered the same too. Seems logical that practices would be canceled.

Maybe.

Has any P5 cancelled spring practice altogether, yet? I don't think UMN will be the national leader on that.

If others take that step first, I do think the UMN will follow.

It wasn't for a lack of many, many experts including the CDC saying that this is a big deal. media outlets have also covered it extensively as well.

Despite all that information, POTUS called it a hoax and blamed the media for causing people to overreact.

Please explain how the news media is causing a panic. Would you prefer not to receive information? Facts are important and help us make informed decisions on how to address this challenge.

Spreading information is extremely helpful. It's difficult to trust the news agencies anymore because this is literally a wolf showing up after years of BS.

I underestimated it. I was wrong. But the fact that the news media spreads panic out not nothing is problematic precisely because of this issue.
 



I just listened to Dr. Michael Osterholm on the Joe Rogan show. (You Tube #1439 show) This is a serious problem that will only get worse and everyone needs to take precautions. It will be an issue going forward well past Spring. My guess is that Spring practice as well as all games will be cancelled in the next few days. Handwashing will do very little to prevent the virus as it is air borne, in other words its transmitted through the air that we breathe.
