Man I love watching Florida play defense. The way they press is unbelievable. Pitino's tried to implement this press but it hasn't really worked but I look forward to him getting his guys in and seeing how it works against teams in the B1G.
 

Yeah their D is impressive isn't it? Pitt didn't really have any answer for it. With the way this game started - I thought Fl might have their hands full - guess not.
 

Wait a second. Florida just dribbled out the shot clock and turned it over with 4 seconds left. Stupid. Everyone knows you're supposed to bring in a bench warmer to jack up a 3.
 

I don't know, I'm not really feeling any of the #1 seeds this year. Florida's had a couple stretches where they've looked good, but I just don't get a "national champion" vibe from them.

Even when Pitt beat the press the way Florida recovered was impressive. You could see how important having bigger guards is in their half court defense too. As much as I like the Dres hopefully we can recruit some bigger guards moving forward.

Haven't lost since early December, Senior experience, great guard play and one of if not the best defensive team in the country. Pretty much has "national champion" vibe all over them.

Yeah, I think it is remarkable how Duke, with the hordes of McDonald's All-Americans that Coach K has brought in there, and all of the high seeds they have had, has only one Final Four within the past 10 tournaments. And as you mentioned they have been increasingly unsuccessful at even making it out of the opening weekend.

And don't get me wrong, as much as I dislike Duke and Coach K, they are still a very good program. They just continue to be put up on this pedestal like they're so much better than everyone else. With the talent they have year after year, they usually under perform. Billy Donovan has had a lot more tourney success in the past dozen years or so yet doesn't get nearly the hype Coach K does.

Playing in the SEC tends to have that effect on your win/loss record. They finished this game well (against a Pitt team that beat precisely ONE team of note this year) but they came out of the gate playing like ass. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't make the Final Four. Wouldn't surprise me that much if they won the title, either. As is often the case, there is no dominant team. But there are quite a few very good teams, any one of which could beat Florida.
 


Is Jordair Jett the best name in the tournament? That's tough to beat.

Exactly. It never should have happened. The VCU player ran into the SFA shooter. Stupid play.

Perhaps Coach K should have spent more time preparing his team for Mercer than whining about the A-10?

With all has McDonald's All-Americans and high seeds, Coach K has appeared in exactly 1 Final Four in the last 10 seasons (albeit a championship). Yet nary a word about that from his lapdogs in the media. That's a pretty significant stat if you ask me. He's become a major underachiever with the talent he's had at his disposal.
 

I'm really quite happy that the A10 had a poor showing in the first round. Hopefully Dayton gets bounced right now.
 





GO DUCKS. And wow they called more then two fouls against Bucky in the first half.
 


Bo is going to blow up here ... without the typical calls in the BT.
 



They've called more fouls against Oregon than WI, yet Bo and company think they're getting screwed. It's nice to see it pretty even.

Badgers also aren't used to the pace of high level NCAA tourney games. Wisconsin does ok until they run into a hot team, which is always going to be the case eventually in the NCAA, and then they're uncomfortable playing a high scoring game (even if Wisconsin actually is an "efficient" offensive team, as some like to say).
 

Poor little Bo can't do what he wants with the refs like he can in the Big Ten.
