2014 NCAA Tournament Thread: Buzzer Beaters, Bracket Busters & More...

I agree, there should be a separate board on Gopherhole dedicated to UWRF women's hockey.

with a little research I could get you the girls state champions from yesterday too, but that seemed like a stretch. And I am sure there was some random spring ball 6th grade team that played well in a tourney yesterday somewhere near Milwaukee

Stanford vs Kansas
Kentucky vs Wichita State
North Carolina vs Iowa State
Mercer vs Tennessee
S F Austin vs UCLA
Baylor vs Creighton
Gonzaga vs Arizona
Memphis vs Virginia

Any revised predictions?
I picked 3 upsets in my original bracket and I'm sticking with them. I have North Carolina, Baylor, and Kentucky all picked today and hit on the UConn upset last night.

I have Iowa St and Creighton in the great 8 so I'm not with you.

I have North Carolina going to the Elite 8. With Niang going down and Villanova losing, the chances look pretty good right now.

I picked North Carolina to the Elite 8, looks very possible with Iowa St.'s injury and Nova going down.

Tough loss for ISU.

I'm with you today 19, why in the world are there only 2 games scheduled before 4 and the rest jammed into prime-time?

Makes no sense at all.

By the way, is Minnesota playing against Stanford today? A roster full of 4 and 5 star recruits look lost against a simple zone.

CBS gets a two game exclusive window on Saturday and Sunday. Part of giving up part of the rights to Turner.

Wiggins and Parker complete no shows. These are the guys the NBA is salivating over.

Jim Nantz wanted Kansas to win so bad he could not hide it. Greg nearly the same; he tempered it after he caught himself with about 5 minutes left.

Sad.

Just realize Stanford takes on Dayton in the next round. Will be another year with a double digit seed in the Elite 8.

Oh, and if SF Austin beats UCLA today (very possible), Florida could end up going to the Final 4 without having to beat an 8 seed or higher. Still a long ways to go, but it could very well happen.

I hope Dayton sneaks into the Final 4. I'm cheering for that, and for Wichita State to complete the dream season.

Charles with the shot at NDSU. Love it.

If you replace "Florida" with "Wisconsin" above and place ", annually" after "Final 4" above, then you've just described Wisconsin's fortunes for about a decade straight in the Tournament. Kind of like getting to play in Milwaukee in a game they'd have otherwise lost. It's great that they so rarely take advantage of these fortunes, at least.

Kentucky-Wichita State overtakes Wisconsin-Oregon as the game of the tournament so far- in my mind at least.

Looks like the SEC is going to get 3 teams in the Sweet 16 too. Cue their defenders talking about how they got no respect...

They all get over 10 nonconference games to help build their resume, and there weren't a lot of marquee nonconference wins by the SEC this season. And none of those teams beat Florida this year, which was highly detrimental to their seeding and selection numbers.

Other than VCU in 2011, and the upcoming UD-Stanford game, can you name me another double-digit seed in the Elite 8 after 2006? I don't think you can. Not very common.

It wasn't crazy to pick against Duke this year. Duke had lost to some bad basketball teams such as ND and Wake Forest. And Mercer has a good big man in Coursey that Duke can't really match up with.
Just my dislike for Duke; plus watching Duke a couple of times this year their on the ball defense was not that good.
I also had SF Austin winning just on a whim and hadn't they won like 26 games in a row? Even my total disdain for Wisconsin didn't allow me to pick American over them. I did pick the Ducks though.

Davidson in 2008. Was also thinking Wichita St. was a 10 seed last year for some reason. They were a 9. And didn't realize George Mason was eight years ago already.

Either way, that is 3 of the last 7 years and 4 of the last 9.

How can they do that? The players for North Carolina had to base their decision on what the clock says. Bizarre way for a game to end.

My bracket for money was looking awesome coming into today. The first three games have now killed me. Amazing how quickly you can go from looking so great to pretty much done.

Williams took that better than can be expected. I'm also very impressed the officials had the balls to call that correctly.

Now onto Tennessee-Mercer or UCLA-SFA. After the last two games this is like watching an NIT game.
